This is October drilled Gleam in northern Lincs! The ears are splitting out on Extase here!
I wasn’t impressed to start with, it was extremely slow to get going, but looks good to the eye now, hoping it’s a Costello replacement going forward. I’ll keep you updated as the season goes forward.Any more comments on dawsum
Agree with that. I think it wants drilling fairly early.I wasn’t impressed to start with, it was extremely slow to get going, but looks good to the eye now, hoping it’s a Costello replacement going forward. I’ll keep you updated as the season goes forward.
...'lots of blackgrass in strips straight behind the combine...' Would that not have come over the rotors? Will the seed destructor not just take the material that comes over the sieves? Or is the latest incarnation able to cope with all of the straw too?We are one of 3 combines being fitted with a redekop seed control unit in the UK this year as part of a long term trials with niab. I am hoping this may help see if burgeoning brome problems, and we have lots of blackgrass in strips straight behind the combine so a lot is going through in certain crops.
One of the other farmers has a really serious ryegrass problem.
It takes all the chaff material....'lots of blackgrass in strips straight behind the combine...' Would that not have come over the rotors? Will the seed destructor not just take the material that comes over the sieves? Or is the latest incarnation able to cope with all of the straw too?

Do you see a link between using PGR and skinnings? My brother says it’s a clear link. Probably not an issue these few years with the price of feed though.
Are they previous tranline wheelings that were subsoiled?View attachment 1035851
as it’s important to show the good and the bad, this is quite an extreme example of blackgrass straight behind the combine in some second wheat. Quite a poor bit of soil and usually does have blackgrass. The crop in the wheelings is perhaps slightly thinner than the crop inbetween but no way near enough to let this much BG grow!
No, that particular one is not a tramline but just a combine mark. Not even had a trailer on it as they all stay on the main 36m tramline, got a long spoutAre they previous tranline wheelings that were subsoiled?
This field been in grass in the previous 3 years?
