Whats a normal amount of days between bulling? I know 21 days is the average but how long can that be up to? Just had 3 come bulling for the first time today that were booked to be synced next week so that's a bonus but wondering if I should leave it another week?
It's day 22 of service today

Any thoughts what you might do with the non served cows? Simple estrumate and serve or full synch?

Surely you'd get the vet to check them and treat accordingly.
I would have thought even though a few estimates may be used it would be a bad blanket policy.

Unless the cow is dirty or cystic the vet will ask him the same thing so why not have a think?

He can look at his cows and decide whether hes desperate for Berthas best friend to get incalf so stick her on a synch and get some semen in her or maybe not. No harm in thinking about it

Get the bulls in at 30 days ,chuck the sync job in the bin

A lot of syncing isn’t needed with cows because a lot of them have been bulling but haven’t been seen
The vet then comes along ,who the cow is asleep inside and does this that and the other
I haven’t used a vet for fertility now for 20 years

Probably full synch, had better luck doing that than just estrumating. The vet will check them anyway and make sure they're clean. I'll leave it for another week and carry on serving to observations for now. How soon after calving can you synch a cow? If i can drag the later calved cows forward by a month or two that would be ideal!

Depends entirely on the cow.

It's not uncommon for me to see a cow bulling 15 - 20 days post calving. Then 10 days after have an absolute barn stormers of a heat.

Realistically I would say anything calved more than a month might be worth a go.

Why would you want to do this when you’re looking more at autumn calving ,just leave the cows and let them bull naturally and save yourself some money

he's keen
sync, what we have found effective, serve for 7 days, jab everything that hasn't been served, hell of a lot cheaper than a sync programme, same results
