The final nail in the coffin of suckler producers will be when store prices crash. It's inevitable as far as I can see.

Well there’s two reasons to give him a fat ear already and I’ve only heard of him ten minutes ago
I didnt read that far, i suppose its the eat less meat but better quality angle hes looking at. Havent we seen it all before with angus, shorthorn and herefords. It would be a brave dairy farmer to bull them with longhorns

They will need 3 months on feed after a summer at grass if they are like most blue x dairy

Read back , i said i see 20mth blues late summer straight off grass almost fit to kill. They definitely wouldnt need 90 days at the trough and certainly not another 16mths to your 3 yr olds

You must have better blues. Not many are fit to eat without feed. The genetics are against them for eating quality

The talk of falling finished deadweight lamb price is surprising as for most of this week the live price has risen by over 12p.
I guess it is on the basis that after Qurbani that demand might drop off. It might but in many areas supply is also tightening as most of the early Creep fed lambs have nearly gone. The grass lambs are not very heavy and it look as if there will be a gap in supply until the better weaned lambs start to come through.
Dunbia dropping beef prices is also strange as live prices for cows and clean remain strong and with a weakening sterling against most currencies it is hard to see where cheaper beef can come from.
I believe many livestock buyers are told by the accountants that this week, historically prices always start to fall so lets just drop the price. The farmers will panic and send more in, just in case the price falls more!!
I might just be an old cynic though.

That's a real good point .
Got 43 stores in a field by house . I've been sat on the patio with my cans of Thatchers generally watching them and idling on TFF as the OH is in London .
The cattle are just walking from one end of field to the other. They have an embarrassing abundance of grass but they are just not settled . I just don't know why
I just wish that if they not wanting to eat the grass then for goodness sake lie down and stop trampling it down !!!
