Just walked my barley and it is just about at the point where you would apply liquid sunshine. So we are 2 weeks away. Lucky, as we are not ready yet - however I've never been late for harvest.A bit of Barley cut on some heavy clay in Buckinghamshire yesterday. It's moving very fast now and warmer next week

How do you store grain in Kenya, as Uk?Kenya again slightly over 2 tonne an acreView attachment 1048103View attachment 1048104
We have a bit of concrete in front of our potato store we tip on but it’s very short term usually we will weigh the trailers tip it and then it’s picked up very quickly by a merchant ( broker). At present it’s in such short supply there’s no point thinking about storing. How do you store grain in Kenya, as Uk?
Do you sell to merchants as per Uk ?
Thanks.
Similar varieties? We have a bit of concrete in front of our potato store we tip on but it’s very short term usually we will weigh the trailers tip it and then it’s picked up very quickly by a merchant ( broker). At present it’s in such short supply there’s no point thinking about storing.
To the UK? The answer is no. The varieties are similar to Spring Wheats with a growing period of about 120 days also our day lengths are only 12 hours so our potential is limited although quality is generally good there is a potential for sprouting if it’s wet at harvest. 2 tonnes is a fair yield but we are looking for 3 tonnes but we are new to corn so we are learning.Similar varieties?
Can you grow 2 crops a yearTo the UK? The answer is no. Depends on the crop but we can plant 4 different crops on the same field in a year. French Beans are a 3 month crop, Green Peas are 2 and a half, Cabbages four months, Broccoli three and a half, Potatoes three and a half etc. So depends on the rotation But we can harvest a crop today be planting something else in that field in two days. Can you grow 2 crops a year
