With the exception of pigs, broilers and eggs I’m pretty sure every farmer works for probably….Who wants to work for probably?

There is some good banter on that thread and a fair bit of humour You could do with it on here.If they're just coming for a bit of a 'sook and a whinge' then they're better off where they are.
I deleted the last line from my previous post to avoid adding fuel to the fire, but maybe it's warranted if 'horn' thinks they can blame 'corn' for the current situation:
"The price is the price, if the numbers don't add up then it's your call, but enough with the passive aggressive finger pointing".
One had a small amount the other none ,They didnt tell you about the acre of developement land they sold around the back.
Now you have done it, the tattie boys will be on here saying cheap chips can't afford the rent!!Why should arable farmers subsidise unsustainably low price of meat in the shops? While folks can fill up with fuel and drive to the continent, why can’t they afford a chicken at a tenner? It’s still good value and cheap as chips.
Agree. Why should arable farmers subsidise unsustainably low price of meat in the shops? While folks can fill up with fuel and drive to the continent, why can’t they afford a chicken at a tenner? It’s still good value and cheap as chips.
You are not alone.
Thoroughly fed up of feeding cattle twice a day every day of the year for a rubbish price that they seem intent on adding deductions for this and that on top.
Much better selling grain at 300 than it is feeding it to bullocks, problem is its not a tap you can just turn off!
@Clive 50p milk is all fine and dandy but I don't milk cows!
Where do you think all the investment money is being spent on livestock farms?
Why should arable farmers subsidise unsustainably low price of meat in the shops? While folks can fill up with fuel and drive to the continent, why can’t they afford a chicken at a tenner? It’s still good value and cheap as chips.
Govt policy worldwide is cheap food ,This is the consumers problem not farmers - food is way to cheap and an adjustment is needed
ALL livestock product price need ti rise (and are doing it seems now) to cover the increase in your input prices ........ jt's as grain prices need to rise (as they have) to cover arable farmers increased input prices
Grain is not too expensive, food is too cheap
Agree.
Why isn't beef more?
Because when a Bullock is ready, its ready. You can't keep it for a year waiting for prices to rise.
Cheap food, cheap aviation fuel, bread and circuses and to hell with the environment. That’s the reality.Govt policy worldwide is cheap food ,
Govt policy worldwide is cheap food ,
It's why they subsidise productionI wish them all the luck in the world growing it without farmers
Oh yes, you're all about the 'bantz', and stirring the shite...There is some good banter on that thread and a fair bit of humour You could do with it on here.
