Yes we often have breakouts and the trouble is finding the culprit there’s always a culpritFence jumpers can be very frustrating …. Their mates following that cant jump just go thorugh are vexing and expensive, trick is never let them
Jump if possible as it come a habit ….
We’ve sort of compromised and mainly use Beltex x Texel tups but some are hellish softThey would be i would think , what ive seen today look more texelified again.
Yes that sounds familiarUse beltex tups, use beltex cross tups. Some die, some live until the mouth goes . Same as most of our different tups really.
we went to far down the pure beltex tup route chasing shape a few years ago. Lambs shrunk to much, drastic change to tups was required.
He wont need to live.... well just long enough to get the semen stored! He's a nice blue faced one, a meat machine, hopefully he lives. There will be a texel ram lmb at 300 grand in 10 days time at lanark. This tup racket is just getn started.
I was in market in the spring, there was a ped beltex ram Hogg with that throat thing they get. I said the vender “that as shame because he looks a good tup”. He replied “it’s not all a loss because managed to get a load of semen stored off him”.He wont need to live.... well just long enough to get the semen stored!
Did you ask him if it was wise to be using it?!I was in market in the spring, there was a ped beltex ram Hogg with that throat thing they get. I said the vender “that as shame because he looks a good tup”. He replied “it’s not all a loss because managed to get a load of semen stored off him”.
I think my my thoughts would have been wasted. It’s amazing what you can pick at market some days, people seem to tell you stuff that they probably should have kept to themselves.Did you ask him if it was wise to be using it?!
Depends what they look like £75-80What are 32kg texelxlleyn store lambs straight off the farm privately, £70-£75? got a couple hundred going to sell, don't normally sell that light but no grass and no turnips drilled yet, below Bristol. Thanks
Have you got anyone to buy them? What are 32kg texelxlleyn store lambs straight off the farm privately, £70-£75? got a couple hundred going to sell, don't normally sell that light but no grass and no turnips drilled yet, below Bristol. Thanks
I dont like beltex. .....not my thing at all, but have they got them bigger, longer and more mobile than they were?
Switch of texel in?
Well where do you go on a Saturday night??I dislike the tups, they're just plain f**king ugly with a list of problems worse than most women I've met
BUT! The lambs are
They're not growing much slower than the rest of my lambs (yes, they are fair bit slower than the Suffolks were - but the Suffolks were crept, Beltexes haven't been, except the youngsters on the hoggs), but every time I've handled them, they're fat as butter and just doing! And they were a pleasure at lambing time ... I am a big Texel fan, but I'll put up with the bug eyes barstewards to get the lambs
Well where do you go on a Saturday night??
I’m not rushing!!
Put them on the sheep page on Facebook this morning, a few interested or want them for nothing the usual! Not wanting top dollar as need to move them as see problems with grass/turnips in a few months but don't want to give them away that's why asked.Have you got anyone to buy them?
