"tough to pay" naa I bet he's got plenty stashed away.
Would be interesting to know how much he's offering per milking? £60 a milking the going rate here. 2.5 hours milk and wash down.
so what if he has got plenty stashed away. atleast his a genuine farmer and just shows you dont need everything with bells and whistles to do the job unlike other youtube sensations who find two hours work a day feeding a handful of cattle hard work and need big kit for their small set up. hope he finds a good pair of hands to help them out, dairy farms like his are few and far between.

Sadly a dieing breed the small hard working dairy farmer, fix and make do attitude.

I’m sure that he will find someone. His parlour might not be the latest but the cows look superb, the general set up is very tidy and seems a decent bloke to work for.
I‘ve only ever milked in herringbones but been told that abreasts can be pretty efficient as a slow milker doesn’t hold up a whole side.

I completely agree with you, I wasn't having a go at him or being disrespectful towards him at all.
I'd say he is the most genuine YouTuber out there and when I met him has was a lovely chap.

Does he have an abreast parlour? I milked in one of them for someone in the late 90's. Quite enjoyed it and the cows seemed much calmer.
Just watched the start of that video and didn't realise he farmed with his brother, always thought he was a one man band.

For those that watch please tell me if I'm wrong. It appears Tom Pendleton is suffering the same as many. His dad won't give up the decisions and makeing the wrong choice. The new tractor definitely had no input from Tom

Haven’t watched for ages but I got the impression his dad didn’t have much of a clue and Tom was better off going off on his own while he was still young.
Just my opinion, it might be different now.

It looks to me that Tom might have had a bigger input in to the bigger decisions such as the new cubicle shed and the parlour that's coming and is quite happy to let his dad have a bigger say on the smaller decisions such as the tractor.

I think his dad needs to look at the wheel stops before commenting that it won’t turn any sharper..just saying 😇

If it was me I'd of put the existing hurlimen on the feeder and bought bigger
If it anything like our livestock sheds it is more down to space and with a trailed machine it is not just the turning circle of the tractor but also what you are pulling due to the axle placement and drawbar. It is the reason why I have been finishing up the hedge cutting so I can take it off and stick the straw chopper on the 6610 rather than the Kubota as while the latters turning radius is as tight it is wider and I am not ripping off £1000 fenders or mudguards reversing it up 8 and 9 foot passageways.

For all we know they tried the existing one or the larger one in it before buying it but either decided they preferred the nippiness if the smaller one which is still capable of running their other kit or found the larger one too tight to use if their other Hurlimann breaks down.

Currently the only jobs they have where a larger tractor maybe of more use is mowing and hauling silage. Mowingwise give the size and odd shaped if some of the fields I'd think they would be quicker with 2 tractors each with a single mower than one with front and rear mowers or a triple one. At least it seems that our neighbours use just a single on the silage fields near us now and their triple on the bigger former arable fields and seem just as quick with the one.

Plus if they can hire a trailer and tractor off Olly at a good price for the few days of silage why spend more money on a bigger tractor when you can use it to improve the conditions for the cattle. Which is something that has already likely paid a part in the decision given that grants or not a new shed, new concrete drives, concrete muck store, new parlour etc aren't cheap and you can only spend what you have once and that is neglecting the footbath, handling system and foot crush.
