Just agreed with EON Next.

2 year fixed.
s/c 30p/day
28.3p/kwh

Based on 28,000 kwh annual usage

Nothing much (1p) between 1, 2 and 3 year prices.
That's looking like a good deal.
Have EON been an OK supplier? Not used them myself before.

My current s/c is 36ppd.
New quote is £5 pd.
I thought the standing charge was like a phone line rental and the money went to the network provider for line and meter maintenance etc. Thefore it shouldn't be jumping up in price as much as the actual energy which was affected by the war in Ukraine.
Surely standing charge prices should be fairly uniform within the same region.

The government should be pulling down on this kind of market abuse. 36p a unit is over 3 times the wholesale price.

Are you on a HH meter like me? I was quoted £7.50/day for new contact I was on £1.00 last year. £2700+ just for the sc, it's just ridiculous. Farmer down the road with more cows with a normal meter is on 0.50.

Standard single rate meter. Was talk of me having to go on to a HH meter when I had some new equipment installed but I managed to steer away from it. I really don't know how they are allowed to charge these prices. Surely the energy watchdog should be involved. As you say, £2700 per year before you even flick a switch on. If its not a monopoly I don't know what is.

Just been quoted BG.
65000 kW annual usage.
3yr fixed.
28.90 ppkw
65ppd sc
Prices after 7% dd discount is applied.
Bit better than the £5 a day sc I was quoted back in July.
Not due for renewal until next August so not sure whether to stick or twist.

Contract doesn’t renew till March but been quoted 25pp day standing charge and 29.1p unit from EDF to sign up now. Do I take their hand off or hold off? Currently 195pp day (yes that’s right) and 57pp unit from thieving Scottish Power on one year deal , was 33p and 17p on previous deal with SP but at time of renewing couldn’t get any firm to take on new customer
