Lease or buy pickup

both farm trucks, were financed, both paid for.

the mrs's car, we leased two, not a lot different to a finance payment, and you get a new car, every 3 yrs. First one, no problems, chap came, looked all round it, said no damage, that was that. The second one, took it back, 2 people spent an hour, checking it for damage, in the end, l went and photographed each so called 'damage', basically there wasn't any, but took the pics, and refused to sign the paper, noting all 'damages', and said l would argue every point.

we didn't hear another word from the leasing company, but her present car, is part financed, l could potentially see a big bill at the end of any contract period, whether justified or not. And the leasing cost, had crept up a lot, so deal became unattractive.

but lease a farm truck, l wouldn't be happy, they get a few knocks and bumps, and could see a big bill.

we belong to the british field sports, they, along with some other clubs, can get you a substantial discount, on some makes of car, 10% or 20%, and that is off the final figure the dealer quotes you, and we never mention it, until we get the final 'deal', and then its deducted from that figure. Worth looking at, if you don't know about the discounts.

I’ve recently bought my truck outright with no part exchange. I have put just under half the cost on HP to be paid monthly over three years. No balloon at the end or any complications.
I have no wish to put anything on a lease with a ‘guaranteed future value, which is just another way of saying ‘balloon payment’ as an option to purchase.
I did consider a simple business contract hire, which can be a very efficient way of having a vehicle for a set amount of time, however anything with a balloon or contract hire is best done with no part exchange, otherwise at the end of term there will bo zero equity to put down as a deposit for the next one and the monthly cost will be a shocker. Lots of young couples have done this and leased or hired Range Rover Evoques only for them to realise, at the end of term, that they just cannot afford the rent on a new model and can barely afford a new budget city car real cost. They burnt through their equity first time around and are now being brought down to earth with a bang.

No that’s the price Paynes Ford quoted me 7 weeks ago. I never haggled or anything but you aren’t going to get £5k off that price.
I dont know who Paynes Ford are but got told by a rep at a local
show 7% but might be able to do a bit more.(Two months ago).
I'd be very surprised if fleet buyers were not getting discount.

Just leased a new ranger. £450/month for 30k miles, 2 years. 3 payments down. Total cost £12,150.

To buy the exact pickup is £49,250 OTR.

All prices plus VAT.

The question is will that pickup after 2 years and 30,000 miles be worth £49,250 - £12,150 = £37,100 + vat?

That said I bought one of the last VW Amarok’s V6 for £32,000 back in March 20 and I’ve just been offered my money back after 37k miles, BUT the new ones are made by Ford so the proper VW’s are holding their money very well at the minute. The used car market is overvalued in my view so leasing is better than buying at the top of the market then watching the bottom fall out of it over the coming 12 months.
Local dealer has the new style ford ranger wildtrak with canopy for £41k before any discount through Nfu or local machinery ring another 4-6% off

Well, I bought a used Ford Ranger back in 2011 put nearly 100k miles on it and I’ve sold it today for exactly what I paid for it.
Be interesting to see if I can do the same with the Navara but not holding my breath on that one. I really wouldn’t want to run it out of warranty!

My low milage Navara N Guard will be 3 years old in march, 2/3 small scratches but nothing major, offered £20k plus VAT.
Couple of things I want to question with the Ford place .... Factory delivery - £920, Dealer fit accessory charge - £825, I'm sure after about 7 Navara's I've never had either before ??

I did, and have wondered how official the offer was. My Navara has cost quite a bit in year 6 and into 7. The worst thing was convincing itself it was out of ad blue and throwing in the towel. A bit of warranty support would have got it sorted earlier, and the sticky driver's window and the intermittent Nox sensor fault.

Looking like £9k for it at 80k miles with no unblemished panels.

Navara’s are on a warranty recall on adblue.
