If bfu,sub is a tenet why can't you just send what you want just say tenet to join and the rest is what I think is for the extra support to get it going . If you can do that I think the coffers would soon reach proportions to support some stuff for stev and others.
Yes ought to be a donation option or something, surprised there isn't one already?

FFS................a tenner is next to nowt. I would put a £100 in no problem when proper up and running. NFU sub on a smallish farm is thick end of £500.
BFU does sort of need that sort of membership fee. Or put it another way, of we had that much we could do soo much more. It would springboard us to having employed people, able to attend meetings with ministers etc.

Just speaking for myself here, I imagine at some point we'll say what we think different levels of membership fee could do for the organisation, and ask the membership where they want to be with it.

Argument for saying now's that time, but personally I think stay as we are for now. We need to attract members. Low cost does that, but so does results and evidence of active campaigning, representation and results (which we'd do quicker and better with more money).

Not having a go, I'm just curious as to what my money will be spent on...
A teeny weeny bit is spent on software, but it's next to nothing. We might need to spend a bit more on that as we progress.

We want exposure and members right now. That would be our greatest short term benefit. i.e. strength in numbers. Hence I would predict, at this stage, most of the membership income will be spent on advertising. Growing BFU is best spend of the cash ATM imho. Then do what we can as volunteers to influence and represent things.

When we've got more members, then we won't have to use it all on promotion, and can maybe employ someone on either contract basis or full time to do work for us.

It's all going in the right direction.

Yes ought to be a donation option or something, surprised there isn't one already?
We used donations to fund the F Weekly advert. For two reasons. 1.) It was quite a bit of money to spend. 2.) It was a single issue (farm assurance), although we did have a poll result which said 95% of members wanted the GFC scrapping, so we had a good mandate.

^^^ Several people were volunteering to donate quite big sums of cash (£1,000 donations) to fund an ad. So we thought we'd ask for more donations, and hopefully lots of smaller amounts to spread the load and not take advantage of those overly generous pledges After we'd asked people to make their donations smaller (I know, strange request!) we had donations from £5 to £300, and funded the ad.

I'll add the donation button to the website.

Edit. When we've jumped in the car to have a meeting, no-one has claimed any expenses, or had a slap up meal paid for by members.

I pay for web domain, someone else paid for leaflets to be printed from their own pocket, someone else paid for Facebook ads, etc. This will change as we get more organised. Leaflets looks like being next thing for us at livestock marts, trade counters, shows, meetings, etc.

I'm livid about this, and I hope British Farming Union will hold NFU, RT, AHDB and the other farming unions to account over it.

Read on....

According to F Weekly article, Red Tractor planned to introduce the GFC to help several supermarkets meet their “WWF basket” commitments to source 50% of produce and grains and 100% of meat from environmental schemes by 2030.

So, I decided to look up what the "WWF basket" actually is.

Remember, the GFC aims to help supermarkets fulfil their "WWF basket", and introduction of the GFC was "unanimously" agreed by the Red Tractor ownership board.

Well, take a look at what NFU, RT and AHDB have signed us up to...

Well it's an interesting and diverse board.
I would/ should be pleased to see a farming rep on there. . . . . . .
How the hell Krebs is allowed to see the light of day, I'll never know
Yes but not Tom Bradshaw given the way he lies all the time and quite clearly does not understand his brief on other boards such at RT that he sits on!
