GFC disgrace: Here's what NFU, AHDB and RT have signed us up for

I'm livid about this, and I hope British Farming Union will hold NFU, RT, AHDB and the other farming unions to account over it.

According to F Weekly article, Red Tractor planned to introduce the GFC to help several supermarkets meet their “WWF basket” commitments to source 50% of produce and grains and 100% of meat from environmental schemes by 2030.

So, I decided to look up what the "WWF basket" actually is.

Remember, the GFC aims to help supermarkets fulfil their "WWF basket", and introduction of the GFC was "unanimously" agreed by the Red Tractor ownership board.

Well, take a look at what NFU, RT and AHDB have signed us up to...

Yep, AHDB, NFU and Red Tractor have signed us up to reducing dietary meat/dairy by 20%.

Please join the BFU. We will fight bad representation of our industry.

It's time we called for NFU, AHDB and the other farming unions to resign their positions on the RT board, and for BFU to take over those roles.

Well, tbh I'd rather see RT scrapped, but whilst it still exists I think the current farmer representatives on the RT board need a vote of no confidence. They're not fit to represent us imho.

It is only a thing because Dave Lewis has been able to pull together a small handful of corporations who collectively control over 80% of food retailing. In a diversified food system none of this would exist. Market share is the root of all evil.

I'm absolutely staggered.Just who does the NFU and ADHB support,it's certainly not it's levy payers or members.
Why do we need to reduce meat and dairy,what figures are they working on ?
Don't they understand the carbon cycle,have they not seen the latest GWP* figures on Short lived Methane and emissions?

How does farming survive if your representatives are against you ?

They aren't dictating policy, they are just the public facing front to give it a veneer of cuddliness. They agreed to have Dave Lewis planted by the cartel as their Chair of Trustees, in return for £.
