Tried a diesel Polaris Ranger. They have said it has proved harder to run than they initially thought cv joints I think. It was nippy easy in an out of, didnt have doors and comfier than a quad.......I'm sure they all are. Hard to give anything more than that as a was only a short drive and I don't have any other experiences to compare it to.

Really considering a UTV for this winter, last year i kept getting stuck in wet fields on my little 250 quad and trailer. I do have a pickup but each winter keeps getting wetter and wetter and i generally cant drive in the fields after mid October unless its on the quad. Everything we have is flat ground no hills, I know a 4wd quad would definitely be a cheaper option to get through the wet patches. Im really tempted to try one but its so hard to justify. Second hand ones seem to costly to run, and new ones costly to buy.
Have you tried oversize kenda bear claw tyres on the 250, ours goes great with them on. And real mud tyres on the pickup..

I had a 2016 Polaris diesel but was dogged with breakdowns so traded it for kubota 1110x a month ago and have to say it’s a far superior machine overall only quibble is 26mph top speed and the front tires are well worn down On outside after only 1400 miles!!! I’ll be getting on to dealer about it on Tuesday the tracking must have been out from new only have it 40 days so surely I’ll get new tires of them
Must be the way I drive and/or the use I give it but the back left is the most worn tyre on mine, I think that it mostly down to the type of tyres fitted. The tyres fitted to the Ranger have much less void than the "ATV" tyres Kubota fit.

How did you go on getting them to stump up for new tyres

I’ve a Can Am HD8 for coming on 4 yrs now. One of the best bits of kit I’ve bought. Do about 1000 miles a year in it. Used to sow fertiliser with half ton spinner, pulls full 1000lt water cube, 200lt sprayer for back etc. Tyres needed replaced this spring but that’s the only money spent on it other than service. It’ll also do 90+kph on the road if speed is what your after.
Is this your first utv ?what is it on petrol ?

Jimny landmaster type conversion.
pros.
Much more capable than any of utv. on the full flotation tyres at least.
quiet.
Comfortable.
Cheap to run, parts cheap.

Cons.
only 2 seats and a bit more difficult to get in and out.
i have a diesel gator and seriously thinking about a jimny as i want to try and get rid of jeep and trailer and just drive jimny to the jobs. whats holding me back is the cost of running the jimny on petrol and m o t

What are people getting on with a few years on from the start of this thread I'm getting a bit fed up of getting wet most days on my quad 🤣😂
Bought a Polaris diesel september 2020, faultless and apart from 2 sidewalls failing on the tyres it hasn’t been on stop once! We still use the quads most of the time as their quicker but for going to farms further down the road the polaris is mainly used

The gamekeeper on one farm has 6 Polaris 6 wheel ones he has on average 2 working out of the 6 seems to be broken down a lot. Snaps driveshafts bearings and gearboxes go which are thousands to fix. It’s rough going though

What ages? I can imagine the bigger ones/double cabs must be a lot tougher on everything. I know of several Polaris Diesels with the Kubota engine and all have been faultless.
