Brexit is destroying Britain

I am positive you are wrong.
All the evidence says so.
Once you accept that you can get on with helping the UK back into the EU.
Optimistic enough for you?
I suppose before we can beat pessimism we have to have a dose of reality

In theory, the UK can apply to join the EU, just like any European country can. It needs to be accepted as a candidate member by the Council. Full admission then requires unanimous agreement from the member states.

However after the psychodrama of Brexit, most of the EU is happier without the UK.

Plus, any decision on the UK’s part to apply for EU membership would be highly controversial. To overcome the controversy at home, it needs to be much more than a vague wish for a small majority of the population. It needs to be an extremely high priority for a large majority of the population. Both conditions need to be fulfilled; both the size of the majority and the extent to which people care. As has been shown many times now the EU is slipping further and further down people of all age groups priorities.

I don’t think a rejoin movement will ever get off the ground for the following reason: even if (emphasise IF) on balance, a majority of the population would prefer to be in the EU than not, the strength of feeling will not be sufficient for it to be an election winner, the EU is now outside the top ten things people see as important according to surveys. Consequently, no mainstream party will be prepared to take it on. The results in by elections of the rejoin party would seem to indicate this is true.

To put it another way, the “Generation Brexit” Remainers of today — those who’ve planted their flag in the ground, drawn battle lines and girded their loins — will give way to a new generation that’s essentially “Generation dgaf”

It has to be said, you and yours talk a load of what comes out of the arse of that cow.
A group on here are laughing (thats us) at the other ( thats you) because you cant see the noses on your faces " I M ALLRIGHT JACK SYNDROME".

David Bench
Now "Croplife UK"
Was "UK regulatory body on plant protection products"
Ask the arable and chem lads if their getting the new material through and approved at the same rate as before. Or even going to get it. (EU will get it though)
Or is it a case of "I M ALRIGHT JACK" ???

It's the effin EU which has got rid of loads of spray chemicals. WTF are you talking about?

There s an irony, know someone who voted out because the EU said they may ban Glysophate, Farmer and NFU
They very nearly did ban it entirely if you look at those who voted to ban it and those who abstained it was only the commission who renewed it as no majority to do anything, get a few more greens in power and individual countries may well ban it, including us, Macron is on record as saying he wants it gone, to be fair he will be out soon so it might outlast him

I would rather have a doctor that had learnt on the job than from a book, to be fair they do learn on the job, having spent six weeks in hospital last year I saw that first hand, it's a shame that more industries don't do it, there is another thread running which shows how the world works these days .
I don't have figures to know if spending is more or less than when I was at school but from knowing what happens at my grandkids schools there are far more "teachers/teachers assistant" these days always at least two in each class of 30 when I was a pupil never had more than one, to be fair pupils are far more disruptive so there is a need for more adults, that is a reflection of other ills in society, a couple of years ago I heard a comment from an employer that said they rejected over half of applications from graduates due to appalling spelling and grammar, again looking at my kids and grandkids homework there is never any red ink correcting even basic errors, how are kids ever going to learn if mistakes aren't pointed out ?
I wonder if you are wanting your grandkids not to go to university...?

I know you highly educated remoan people only believe what you read in the Guardian.

I don t take any of those papers you talk about. Open your eyes and talk to practical working people, manufacturers, exporters ect.

As i have said before European stock markets ( not UK ) up 10%/15%. EU OPTOMISM.

Dont need to use expletives to get what you don t know across. But it costs £100,000s to pass a chemical for the EU. UK now not included, so tests and costs redone for UK. And again for Northern Ireland. This means fewer chem products are coming on to the market than in the EU----------- RESULT disadvantage UK.

And incase you ar nt up to speed, ther s already talk, discussion of a preharvest ban in the UK of Roundup

Roundup is a very special product and I hope we don't lose it. I do think some farmers overuse it pre harvest, as in the liquid sun talk. I think it was the EU who were suggesting that Roundup should be banned and I was quite surprised and pleased they didn't ban it.

If I'm wrong I'm sorry , but when we were in the EU all sorts of chemicals were taken off the market, like chlorthaninil sp, and we were told that it was the EU that banned them. Not to mention the 3 crop rule.

My son owns a firm which sells and services measuring machines and 3D printers. They are imported from Germany, Israel and the USA, he voted Brexit and would do again, so don't patronise me by saying I don't know what I'm talking about please.

Oh and before you start telling me what to write perhaps you should turn your spel chequeur on.

They can do whatever they want, it's their life and will have my support.
Between my wife and I we have five kids, my two have been to uni, my son now runs his own business in marketing he started last year at 35, going ok my daughter did a nursing degree then went on to become a dental nurse until kids came along, last year she did a sports therapist course at bath uni and now runs her own business which is doing well, two of my three stepsons all work in construction one as a dry liner earns good money but lacks drive, the other is a qualified scaffolder and earns very good money and is about to start out on his own the third did an apprenticeship in mechanics now helps me part time and runs his own business doing various things both farm and non farm related, owns two houses with his girlfriend and rents out a dozen containers. All five are a credit to themselves regardless of uni or not, the biggest thing needed for success is a work ethic and attitude.
Of the five my son was the best suited to study and school the three other boys wasted much of their time at school and my wife was at her wits end especially compared to her three sisters kids all but one of which went to uni but now the only one who is earning decent money is the one who didn't the other three are unemployable and lazy,
