I think you need the stock on farm. You'll have to confirm the amount of sheep on farm in the application.will there be a 2024 FETF? can you apply for sheep equipment before getting sheep? planning on getting sheep but assuming the 2024 grant will be Feb like last year this will be before we have brought the sheep
Would anybody know the dates? would like to apply for a few things but cant find anything saying when (if) its opening
What a helpful web page... Would be nice if we could tag Janet Hughes would be a good question to ask her or anybody at defra... As if it isn't already complex enough, they can't even be bothered to tell us WHEN we might be able to ask them to maybe give us some money... Absolute joke.Doesn't look like open dates have been published yetFarming Equipment and Technology Fund 2024
Apply for a FETF grant for help to buy items that improve productivity, manage slurry and improve animal health and welfare.www.gov.uk
Don’t think so but to be fair I’m no expert on such thingsI've just entered an agreement for some hedge laying and fencing but won't be claiming until next year at the earliest.
Will that affect anything I want on the FETF scheme?
We did our hedge planting (only about 700m) mid December, I didn't want our application to get tangled up with xmas holidays so applied on 4/1, it was paid 18/1, I was quite impressed with that (I've applied for payment in 3 goes, 1st fence line summer last year, hedge in Jan and second fence line nearly done so will apply for payment in a few weeks)and it sounds like the hedging claims are dragging.
Most items cost more than the average price anyhow?Looking through it, they've changed payment terms which may be an issue if you were used to looking for opportunities where grant items could be bought for less than their guide amounts:
2023 - 'Regardless of how much you pay for an item, you will receive the grant amount listed, whether it is less or more than you paid.'
2024 - '
The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) will pay you a grant amount of 50% towards either:
I'm not sure this is a good thing as could encourage supplier price inflation or creative accounting to maximise grant funding.
- the average cost of the item – if an item costs you the same or more than the expected average cost in this list
- the actual cost you pay for the item– if an item costs you less than the average cost in this list '
I asked local dealer yesterday if I could buy a new grass subsoiler for the price. Most items cost more than the average price anyhow?
Hadn’t got around to studying the terms yet but thats upset me. I’d spotted something I could earn myself very good money from (& I wanted anyway). Oh well, looks like they’ve come out on top again because most of the other things are far more expensive than their average cost. Still, any money is better than none.Looking through it, they've changed payment terms which may be an issue if you were used to looking for opportunities where grant items could be bought for less than their guide amounts:

Trouble is now we’re been told what we can and can’t buy with the money and the conditions that come with it.Hadn’t got around to studying the terms yet but thats upset me.
