French protests

Nail head hit the on....

What are the issues, who have they been raised with and what evidence is there that they're not acting on them?

If someone asked me in the pub what our industry issues are and who is driving them with who then I'd struggle to point them at a succinct answer.

Not having a clear set of issues and why they're important to Joe public means any protest would not be understood and counter productive.....
100% agree. Just hot heads jumping on the band wagon

but as an extreme comparison/example the the train strikes havnt gained the strikers a lot but they are helping to spoil their struggling 'industry; over all even more by upsetting the paying passengers
certaimly so called industry leaders like the nfu should be in the main media platforms talking about current day realities but they arent.

Only my opinion but I don't think they have a good case or manage it well. They already get more than many of their users, and some of their gripes are about new tech which every other industry has had to deal with. Going on strike 2 or 3 days a month is not a good look either, they can afford to lose a couple of days pay each month whereas customers can't, if you have a strong case go on strike and get it sorted. The uncertainty of which days they don't work just pisses off the train user who may find alternatives to travel and the downward spiral of the railways speeds up.

Well actually maybe Brexit has turned out to be OK after all.
SFI is voluntary and quite generous. You don’t have to do it. You can farm without it if you so choose.
RT is a pain but that’s not imposed by the government but by the NFU.
Maybe just maybe Brexit is turning out alright in the end. At least we don’t have to get agreement from 27 other countries before we change our national scheme. 👍

Some have no choioce but to travel on it, students etc. its bad enough service as it is approx. 2 hr trip from Bristol Parkway to \taunton 2 hrs instead of less than an hr because of track works evening train chokck full of people and standing in the isle ,some for the whole 2hrs
too much paid on surveyors etc.people looking at things but no action,no money left for enough ground workers hrs raw materials cost are right up as well toi be fair
railways need a freindly boost not a cynical put down by a union. imo.

The average farmer will have lost half their income.

I don’t know where you get that from. We are mixed lowland and we’ve been able to work out a plan that will recover slightly more than we lost in BPS. On crap grade 3 these schemes are a no brainer. If on better land just carry on cropping. At least nobody is being forced to do anything. I’m waiting for the additional options to become live. Herbal leys are about £150/ acre per year for starters. Complaining about that is churlish in my view, though I did initially. Now I’ve got my head round it all and looked at the new options I’m more than satisfied. Well done GB.

I was at last Sima show and there was several manufacturers not there as it clashes with the Italian show they should have just left it in February/march like it always was in line with the big food show they have just down the road from the sima show

Not sure if it is true but just been told Sima show in November has been cancelled because of this trouble 😕
Nothing to do with the protests. It's the withdrawal of some manufactures and a 33% drop in attendance over the last few shows. There maybe one in 2026, but it may well have gone the way of the Royal Show with farmers and manufactures preferring smaller enterprise specific shows.

Different story for all grass livestock units.
