I drove to Lincolnshire to look at s tractor , bought it and it broke down first 100meters , fixed it and i still have it and use it 20 years later you cant always tell looking at them !
But that would be added to cost of purchasing machinery. Its amazing how your mindset is different if problems are found after buying something. If you did due diligence yourself, you would feel more responsible and motivated to fix it or let the issue go. If someone buys something unseen and gets caught out, its generally a feeling of regret that makes them blame everyone but themselves. That's assuming you will 100% catch and see every problem with it.
And if it does require fixing and you decide not to buy it then it's a day wasted which unless your time is worthless it's still going to be ££'s.
Or you decide it's still worth buying you've wasted a day and still have a few days & £££'s fixing it...
Of course there's sod's law which you could go check it out and get a mechanic to check it out and everything could be perfect but ten hours after getting it the rear shaft bearing decide it's had enough and explodes into bits destroying a bunch of gears in the rear transmission.... Don't ask how I know...
Ain’t that the truth. Bought a Renault three years ago. Drove it up road at the dealers. All seemed well. Clutch went after 50 acres ploughing. Fitted a new one myself and it’s been fine since.I drove to Lincolnshire to look at s tractor , bought it and it broke down first 100meters , fixed it and i still have it and use it 20 years later you cant always tell looking at them !
You big spender youHRN pester me once a week
They must be desperate
Aye, when its not their money. When i first came to Kenya. The company I was working for was expanding it's farming operations. We bought 24 Masseys of varying sizes new but still needed a few more for trailer work and road maintenance. I suggested buying a load of secondhand out of the UK . I got the go ahead and bought about a dozen of varying sizes from 2645 down to a 240. It was in 1994 so I don't think I paid more than about £ 6000 for a tractor but the abuse I got from the farm managers was terrible. I thought I'd done a good job but the management wanted new and were really upset with the odd leaky spool valve, cracked light or split seat. What is acceptable to one isn't to another.

They wouldn't let me in as I had already been caught licking new tractors in a dealershipJust out of interest and to be cheeky, when you buy a new tractor do you go to the tractor factory to witness it being built?
He had no money after buying the tractorDid you not stop for cup or coffe or any dinner on the way home ?
