I wonder how it is communicating with the Mothership then?I’ve changed the alloys on mine and I had a question for the dealer about the TPMS …. they told me what my tyre pressures were from the dealership …. Big brother is watching !!!
On mine it will go via a modem in the car, same tech that rings 999 when an airbag goes off.I wonder how it is communicating with the Mothership then?
So a SIM and mobile connection? On mine it will go via a modem in the car, same tech that rings 999 when an airbag goes off.
I think so, I can locate the car, start it up and lock and unlock via my phone from anywhere, even see adblue and fuel levels. It's currently requesting permission to book a service, not keen on the garage it's chosen though!!So a SIM and mobile connection?
Yeah mrs can tooI think so, I can locate the car, start it up and lock and unlock via my phone from anywhere, even see adblue and fuel levels
China have banned cars made by an American company from sensitive areas over spying concerns and you manage to turn it into another China is the bad guy, they're going to destroy us post.Linked to this, a Government minister has today warned against Chinese cars. That they send information, or can send information including possibly from their audio and cameras back to China. Worse, they could all be disabled by the flick of a switch back in China, causing gridlock and mayhem both short and long term to their enemies roads and economies, both personal and national.
The Chinese are cognisant to this power and that is illustrated by the fact that Tesla cars, even those built in China, are banned from sensitive areas including military and government properties in China. They don’t need anything as crude as an electromagnetic bomb to sabotage cars these days. It can be done with a simple internet signal.
I’m telling you thst it works both ways. However, make no mistake about it, trust the CCP at your peril and learn the lesson from the Russian situationChina have banned cars made by an American company from sensitive areas over spying concerns and you manage to turn it into another China is the bad guy, they're going to destroy us post.
Really well done, America thanks you for your service

Before I left with the vehicle they set up the App on my phone, linked to truck via blue tooth I believe, I can unlock it, start it, turn on heating, heated steering wheel etc, fuel levels, tyre pressures, beep the horn, flash the lights, see where it is on a map, all remotely, I'm assuming the dealer can login in and do the same.So a SIM and mobile connection?

The story about Gov minister warning was in Yesterday’s BBC NEWS but I’m damned if I can find it today. It might have been an ex Minister but I don’t remember. However it is not a surprise that such a warning has been repeated because similar warnings have been sporadically made for the last decade or so.
I'd there any evidence the thousands of Chinese cars on UK roads can do this?US Probes Security Risks in Chinese Cars, Mulls Curbs

It's not Bluetooth as you can do that from anywhere on the planet with a phone signal. Before I left with the vehicle they set up the App on my phone, linked to truck via blue tooth I believe, I can unlock it, start it, turn on heating, heated steering wheel etc, fuel levels, tyre pressures, beep the horn, flash the lights, see where it is on a map, all remotely, I'm assuming the dealer can login in and do the same.
I can't say I understand it too much, just a load more complicated electronics to go wrong , very impressed so far though. It's not Bluetooth as you can do that from anywhere on the planet with a phone signal.
They are, like all new cars today, connected to the internet so it only takes someone with access to the servers to flick a switch. Which is why China itself has banned foreign electric vehicles from sensitive locations. They realise the potential even if you don’tI'd there any evidence the thousands of Chinese cars on UK roads can do this?
44mpg….. really…Just come back from Wilshire in my 70 plate vw v6 and no towing mostly motorway driving and it returned 44mpg. Got a 73 plate ranger here as well and 28mpg if you are lucky.
That’s as good as a Volvo xc90 or equivalent large 2.0 diesel SUV. Only very slightly worse than i get from my 1.6 Honda CR-V so 44 sounds decidedly iffy. I had a Q7 for some years with basically the same engine and was pleased whenever I managed to better 30mph44mpg….. really…
