If I’m expected to work all the hours going and miss out on family time and treat the farm/business/kit like my own then it’s only fair that a tight barsteward doesn’t dock your money for a break, I’d certainly not work for anyone if it was the case
If you were the employer, would your opinion still be the same?

At most places I go to work I deduct all my breaks, as I,m fed by who I work for,
Good payers that don't feed me , still deduct breaks,
Bad payers that don't feed me get charged for breaks,
In all cases, if no food is offered after being there 11 hours, then I just go home, not only for food but the rest of the night, simple as
If you drove a truck or worked in a factory would you expect the gaffer to down tools and come running with a plate of butties too? or can you just not be arsed to fill your bait bag on a morning?
Some folk need their hand holding and think the gaffer has nowt else to do but pander to their every whim

I don't mind having the 30 minutes taken off everyday from 7am to 4pm for lunch, time and a half starts after 4pm so the 30 minutes break moves my finish time over to 4.30pm. I try telling supervisors etc but the answers always the same.....

I'm genuinely surprised at some of the comments on here. I have worked in a couple of jobs where you were paid for breaks which was a perk of a job but never expected it.
Full time or self-employed, if I stopped (and in most cases I think you should) I would always knock that half hour or hour off.
Getting paid for meal breaks anywhere isn't common, is it?
Salaries account for the fact that you will be having breaks, even if they are not recorded.

Your boss is not there to mother you, or running a cafe

I want to get away from them for a bit. Have some time to myself make phone calls about private matters that doesn't concern them. Not taking them into house to feed them.

If working away in fields with them, obviously eat together. I just pack lunch in the morning, evening before if I know I'm going to be away all day.
Same, break time is break time, I like to do my own thing. Often when driving I'd eat on the go and use my 30-minute break for a nap.
Never expected to be fed in any of my jobs either although a few did.

I'd rather everyone worked smaller days and went home for tea tbh. My mrs has enough to do. What you won't see on the video is how many hours those boys put in, which is why they get fed. Makes us look part time.

That is exactly what I do

Years ago we went from staff eating their dinner sat on an oil drum in the workshop to eating in the house, but it didn't work for anyone. So we bought a portacabin for a bait hut, fitted it with water and power, kettle, microwave, fridge, fryer etc and that is their area, and their time.

It's much better for everyone that way

Maybe it would be if you weren’t tight 😂
I'm a long way from tight dear chap, they do get perks! Thing is I'm frontline too, and have a lot of jobs undelagatable that need doing, often out of their working hours. I'll clock between 10 and 30 more hours a week every week than staff do, so I haven't time to run a staff cafe too - nobody wants pizza every night because thats whats convenient. I've found that most folk would rather crack on and get home for say 8.30pm than stop for half an hour at 7pm or whatever then have to go home later as a result, to find eating at work means that their tea sat at home is now wasted and the mrs is grumpy.
If we were banging in 100hr weeks all the time somehow I'd find a way, but its not often we go past about 75, and thats only a few short weeks a year.
