Same as my ewes, I’m not fostering on they are going cull asap.
What about Gimmers. Loose lambs and mad as hatters. Not having good go with the half dozen Chev mules i got. 4 lambed, no lambs living now. One I tried to set on a pet. Two days later he's back in pets pen. A homebred gimmer (with a bit of Greyface in her) had a sickly lamb, died overnight. Tried her with a pet and a feed , once got lamb to find teat was away. Two hours later were keeping each other at a distance, by teatime lamb sucking easily.
Not always that easy.
Back to topic. Think I will run younger ones on for the summer. Have a lot of older ewes to go in autumn, and flok has to be rearranged to fit with conservation scheme.

How many 65/70 kg ewes can be put on 800sqft of slats?

It a f**king joke. FFS people who dip in and out.
Calm down man.
Every thing is relative, and your very green levelish surface Hill, is the envy of anyone on poor hill.
Some are very steep rocky or like here heather and peat bog.

I'm being nosy. What's stocking rate/acre on your hill?

Don't let lambing stress get to you. This changeable weather sure takes its out of us.

Every heifer that is born without assistance and weaned by her own mother will be retained.

The default setting is to bull them all, but I'll cull out any that needs individual assistance. I cull again at AI for any pelvic malformation and temperament.
Are you finding with the daily grazing move and regular handling that the cows are more docile to yourselves?

Estate fencing.

I nothing to do with you but as your so thick I will explain again that wasn’t even our ground in the back ground, that’s a block of arable that has lays they lamb Romneys out on. The joke is we haven’t got a hill farm just some slightly less good ground

Yes exactly you just calm yourself down. We know you farm some very hard ground and lambing will have been tough on you. 🤓

Does animal quality (confirmation etc) feature in the cull/not cull decisions? Only so long one can cut their nose off to spite their face.

Thanks for explaining it. Me being ancient and half way through lambing should keep my trap shut. But.
Dare I ask about the Romneys? Are they tight skined tidy type or like the shitie arsed NZ type I'v landed with.
Looking for the Trad Marsh type like had in the early 70's.

Really happy with the lambs being churned out by the Heb x Roussins. Had f**k all feed too this year and it's been a harsh winter. Will be interesting to see how they grow now though but will keep a hold of them into next year and hopefully the price is decent. Will end up keeping some of the ewe lambs I think though to see how they do
