Thanks for explaining it. Me being ancient and half way through lambing should keep my trap shut. But.
Dare I ask about the Romneys? Are they tight skined tidy type or like the shitie arsed NZ type I'v landed with.
Looking for the Trad Marsh type like had in the early 70's.
What’s this tight skinned Romney you talk
about ? That would be interesting!
But I don’t have the shitie arsed type, you just keep them up there !😂

No im not @Frank-the-Wool is the ex spurt !
So whaat your Romneys like? Are there sub types in the breed?.
As I said the NZ type I got and his offspring are disappointing me. Shitty arsed, not that fleshy, in fact his nickname is Arseless. What I was used to so many years ago was like Caithness park cheviot on steroids. Wool was a tight long staple not like a Lincoln Longwool.

Second year lambing to him and good vigor not much help needed.

-3 with the wind chill here this morning, rain sleet and snow. I’m actually just about at the stage where I would welcome finding a maggot because it meant things had warmed up .
Its the wind that's the potential killer. Last night put those lambed up to 3 days old inside. Gale force with vicious showers. Went out at first light wind and before 6 had 7 lambed. The none bitch in difficulty took over an hour to corner, then took off leaving her lamb. Another hour to coral her and remove a dead deformed lamb. All the joy of lambing.

Hi @Bill dog .
Firstly the Romney I am on about, we had IIRC from 1969 to 75 was a big framed Fleshy beast, with a super nature.
Wool was a tight crimp long staple, cant remember the micron, but wool graders were impressed. After lambing over I will search for, i'm sure there's a pic of him. He was supposed to be a genuine Mash sheep. Would there have been two types of Romney then?
