So a lot of my very early Feb drilled winter beans are fudged, 5"of rain didn’t help:banghead:so is it worth redrilling them with winters again or do I go with sbarley,agronomist wants me to go with sbarley.
@Brisel @Hindsight
Sorry to hear that. 😞

I'm not sure how winter varieties work out sown this late. You're guaranteed a late harvest. Is that on the heath or at the bottom of the Cliffe on the heavy stuff? I'm guessing clay.

What have you got seed for? I'd be inclined to go with barley. Just for sh*ts and giggles, how about linseed. Curse me later...!

No beans sown here yet. Land too heavy and wet to travel so am mauling in spring barley into brashy clay at the moment.

Sp Barley. Will be harvested by mid August, so time to start again. Home saved non treated seed, hopefully. 100 kg N max. SIngle herbicide and sniff of fungicide. 5 - 6 t/ha and 2.5 t/h straw. SImplest way to manage next five months until hopefully normality returns.

I'm working on the basis that half a crop at least pays the rent and should set up a good following first wheat.
