I can cope with the weather what I can’t cope with is the negativity around agricultural production it seems to be the thing that grinds me down a bit.
Weaners ring was back up yesterday at Carlisle as much as it was down last week,£100/head or so. (i just sound like Guth) :ROFLMAO: .Many more folk around the ring. Some very expensive cattle in there i thought. Thin shelly dairy bred Angus over £1000. (Not quite as bad as the famous drawing :ROFLMAO:.)

Big ring seemed a good trade although i didnt see much. Thumper of a big Blue bullock at £2160 that Declan Foley bought.

They fairly motor on. Didnt take long to put 500 through. Theve put circular forcing pens in coming off the docks. Seem to work well.

Lost a bit of ground to a landlord for sfi, trying to get some more barley drilled as well so thought why they’re a good trade we would cash in. Who knows what autumn will bring

I know I'm king of the miserable gits but looking towards the autumn;

If the price of killing ewes and lambs stay high, the cost of replacements will be eye-watering. With the prospect of another bad winter/ schmallenberg/ Blue tongue/ market downturn, it will be a massive risk buying many.

If the price of killing ewes/ lambs drops, breeding stock will be cheaper but there will be less confidence and enthusiasm to work all winter.

I don't see the UK flock expanding.

Those round pens are slow compared to the old race’s they have put them in for h and s
Maybe a bit dryer and a bit more hope for getting some out lifted the job a bit ?
