Hanging holly up in the shed was what we used to do to help get rid of it, I think it has to be the holly with the berries on it .
Grandfather used to swear by it , so we used to just carry on with it .
It would clear up eventually, whether the holly had anything to with it is anyone’s guess !
I just scattered a couple of loader buckets of them in each lambing field and drove forward so that some could get smashed up, and hopefully get them eating . Seemed to work !
Got precious little grass in the lambing fields now , but managed to get a trailer load of turnips from Kelso yesterday.
Wasn’t sure how long the ewes would take to get on to them as they’ve never had them before .
Instantly it would appear . 🤦♂️😂
Whatever shed he puts up , the space outside the shed had to be factored in. So many places I’ve seen that have left hardly enough room between sheds for Machinary to turn etc . An artic , or feed wagon / flat trailer take up more space than the 135 scraper tractor sadly !
Probably the best working ewe here is a 4 crop Blackie Charmoise cross that the kids took a shine too . Looks like a brown faced mule , and spits out 2 lambs every year .
The Charmoise were brilliant , but far too bare for me here!
Can’t be more bare than some of the beltex yokes I’ve had this year . Needing to change anyway, as the 3 beltex tups decided that 3 years here was enough , and they were culled before they could snuff it !
Anyone used Roussins on their ewe lambs before ?
@spark_28 , how you getting on with the ones that had them rather than your rogue visiting blackie ?
Too many of my beltex lambs have been very bare . Not sure really why as this was their 3rd season, and the last 2 years seemed ok .
Just keen to...
I find it very cathartic when it’s all going to shyte here, that I’m not alone in having a carp time of it .
Poor reflection on me probably, but there is a certain comfort to be found in other folks misery !
😂👍
