I'm really curious as how come the Halter seems to be making progress in the commercial market in NZ where we are always told cost control is important? Also they don't seem to have any problems in using the system to bring cows in for milking etc.
I suspect the principles are the same with small pv panel on the collar to charge the system. Where Halter seem to have pushed ahead is in the entire grazing management, nutrition, fertility management interface. They have very much targeted the commercial NZ dairy sector
It's interesting that over here all the use of virtual fencing seems to be coming from "conservation grazing" whilst in NZthe the Halter system is very much a commercial grassland and dairy management system. Hopefully the unit price will come down and Halter come to the UK as it looks fantastic!
Thanks, I will need to check again but I think when I tried that or a very similar number it was "not recognised". I managed to make some contact through Facebook and they have sent me an email address to contact which I can do but would be little help for my brother as the whole point is that...
My brother has a farming online account but has forgotten his password so he can't access his we mail account and unfortunately when he tries to reset his password it just says that it will send an email to him (which he can't access). I can't find a helpline number either, any suggestions what...
That's exactly what we do now but because the line is so high we have to use a ladder to access it and we wanted to do without the length of flexing pipe if possible.
Actually only a few metres. Currently the line runs past our calf room and we have a short length of flexible pipe which is disconnected at one end and dropped into the tank. In future the idea is to relocate the tank just outside the calf room and replace the flexible pipe with a permanent...
Thanks all. We want to put a valve in our milk line so that we can divert transition milk from our dump cows (at the end of milking) into an alternative tank for feeding calves. Any advice? It is essential that whatever we use an be washed in situ at no detriment to our milk hygiene.
With all the emphasis on feeding adequate colostrum has anyone come up with a protocol that minimises the need to defrost colostrum in the middle of the night? We were thinking of keeping a certain minimum amount of fresh colostrum collected in the morning in a fridge for use after the evening...
Went to a lameness discussion today which suggested that we should be running dry cows through a footbathing 3 times per week. How? Does anyone have a good way of doing it without having to run cows through the parlour. I would like to find an easier way of doing it to ensure it gets done regularly.
