General rule of thumb for us is, cut on day 1 with a plain disk mower, do nothing day 2, ted on day 3 and 4, then row up and bale on day 5, if it is a bit near leave in rows for a few hours - they are called windrows for a reason!

Yes I did get this fixed thanks, with the latching switch. It was too long to fit in the gear knob so I made a collar to step it out
The massey switch still clicks but has stopped working, I think it is worn out, unfortunately it is a sealed unit so i can't get in to clean it. I'll try to get some contact cleaner down the side of the button and see if that helps.
I'm not sure if a 62 series switch would work as that would be...
The original massey one doesn't latch but my guess is that it must keep the circuit, as without the switch in the gear stick 2 of the 3 wires have to be connected together to make the other switch on the rh side of the cab work correctly
