Any recommendations for the sealant used for the hinge bit of an XL cab forward opening window in the doors? I would imagine some kind of tough clear silicone but if anyone knows the exact stuff, please let me know.

TIA

I put a window in with clear silicone a few years ago and it hasn't moved. Wide masking tape on the inside, mask down both edges of the glass on the outside and fill the gap with silicone was what the very helpful people in the service department of a Case dealer told me to do. If you want to be really flash a 'repair kit for silikon hinge' is listed, part number 3405451R91

Thanks for the tips.

I have now discovered the most tedious job in the world - peeling off the old silicone. It simply refuses to come off easily!

to do the job properly and professionally you need to fix the glass in place with a strip of masking tape on the inside. Then on the side you plan to fill you should run two parallel strips of masking tape on the glass to act as a border. You install the clear silicon and then after gently remove the tape when its dried.

It will leave a nice tidy edge (factory finish)

I use duck tape on the inside and leave it on just in case! Looks a bit sh1t but I did save the window a few years ago when it attempted a bit for freedom while shaking hay.
