It would require extensive modification to convert it from pendant style pedals, linkages and the hydrostatic steering. If the 550 hasnt got the cross shaft through the gearbox to take the shaft mounted pedals then your are well and truly stuffed im afraid. Chances are a 148 steering box may just bolt on the 550 gearbox housing, but its a heck of a lot of work for little gain

There's nothing much wrong with the dry brakes when kept in order. It's a shame the 240 and 250 tractors have that rubber bit round the bottom of the dash to seal the cab off as with old age they crack and fall apart. The 550 cab is complete sealed unit in comparison

The 250 is interesting because whilst it may have the later rear axle with wet brakes, it has the earlier 'short' front end with battery and fuel tank under bonnet, and 135 style dash.
