Well finally the time of year has come for all the nasty coughs and colds which can be thrown at human beings :( One question.... I caught a chest infection a few days ago, is it possible to catch a chest infection from someone who has brongheitis? Or are they 2 different bacterias/virus's?

Bronchitis is the consequence of having another virus...... its inflammation of the bronchial tubes. So the virus that causes the inflammation can be "caught" but the consequences might not be the same for both people.
Hope that makes some sort of sense...... PS: I`m not a Doctor!

OH and toddler are doing lots of baby classes etc at the minute and they seem to be suffering non stop! I can honestly say I have been lucky enough not to have had a cold/cough for at least 15 years and have no idea how I've done it.

Probably by doing an outdoors job and not mixing with lots and lots of people but the bad news is that over the next few years you will be in contact with the most infectious tribe known to man - pre school and primary school age children:eek: Coughs, colds, sickness and diarrhea and the inevitable headlice but unlike your stock, you cannot isolate, have high herd health status or a closed herd:D

I have only just gotten over the flu myself, well almost. I think I have a mutating variety of Flu. Be warned about the flu guys, real bad trouble especially this one every person who is in the family has gotten it and its been different with every single one :(

Yeah! When the little one started primary, Dad and I spent that winter coughing our guts out over and over again. Not much in the way of capital works done that winter and I coughed until June.

The flu vaccine for adults is dead so you will not be infected. You can get a reaction which will feel like a virus but that applies to most vaccines. The Fluenz nasal vaccine for kids is live so be careful if any close contacts has low immunity -chemo, etc

I saw an advert for the nasal vacc at the surgery when I went for my jab. Awful lot of people I know won't have it 'cos they claimed to have got a dose from it.
