The time of year for all manner of coughs and colds....

It's winter, there is no UV to kill bugs, you go into confined spaces sharing warm, wet air [that bugs love] with every tom cobbly and all that has all manner of bugs. It happens every year. It is always crap.

- ever wondered why swallows fly south in the winter, stock get sick in sheds - just think a little deeper and it all adds up.

You may not have noticed so I better say it clear - I don't like winter.

Snuffle, hacking cough, lack of appetite (and sleep) and gastritis. No idea if its linked or a consequence of taking meds. I feel utterly shite at the moment.

You often hear people saying that we need some cold weather to kill off the bugs. Fact is that humans die in cold weather faster than the bugs. Proper flu is a nasty illness and you will feel like dying. Thankfully fitter folk don't.

Do you ever reckon that many of the pathogen things in existence today , have perhaps lost their way a bit in the mutation stakes ? If you have a bug that kills it's host , then that's it usually . Host dead pathogen dead . But if the organism took it a bit steady and just made the host a bit badly , then the bug gets saved to fight another day . And you might think that the severe killer ones would have died out , leaving the less severe ones to fight on . Just a thought

Got one of those dry coughs that seems to vibrate right up through your lungs. We have both had it right through Christmas with aches and pains as well. Have had to cancel trip to see the in laws. The Mrs sounds like a piano accordion when she is breathing.

Same here, but the cough is far from dry, producing enough gunge to lube the slipway for minehead lifeboat! Every hour! And the orchestra in my chest which persists in tuning up all night, is loud enough to keep me awake!

Do you guys take vitamin D by chance..?

Going on 3 years now since I succumbed to the nagger's, concentrated elderberry juice, concentrated black cherry juice (stops gout too) and the cheapo one a day vitamin D.

Friends suggested this and amazed at the number of people on this regime, gal I know has not had the flu in 33 years..!!

In the middle.
I've had a niggle cough and cold since Christmas and thought it would just go away when it had had enough. Got cold and wet one day last week which knocked me back so finally went to the doc Friday morning, sent straight to a&e. At 8pm they finally allowed me to come home as there were no beds available so now crashed out on sofa or in bed with pneumonia. All I'll say is don't let these little niggles hang around as they get worse.
