2015 machine here with no drive. The handbrake light doesn't go off and therefore it will not engage drive.

Any suggestions please? I know you could bypass the switch on older models but not sure what to do on this one.

Thanks

It'll be the handbrake switch or adjustment i expect. It'll have 4 wires in it. 2 pairs do the warning light and the other 2 disconnect the drive unless they changed them but doubt it still same transmission as the 627 etc.
Or it could be seat pad disconnect switch but that normally sounds a buzzer and dont think it puts handbrake light on.

Next to brake fluid pot will be a unit with relay and buzzer built in to it thats the transmission control unit. Had the pins of the muilt plug burn out on one once would be an easy thing to check.

The 629 wont have the electronic relay behind the brake res, the trans cut off is controlled by the spu controller. This will be the same on MT and MLT with en1500 hydraulics. ACE is right probably the handbrake switch, out of adjustment or cable pin moved or snapped.

Sorted now thanks. It was a loose linkage pin on the handbrake. Its the one that activates the switch.

Manitou never adjust the handbrake right or dealers on PDI.

Assuming you got the handbrake in the axle with the levers on top still? slacken the handbrake handle off, adjust the slack on the cable at the axle end so the levers are just clear of the stop bolts but only just or brakes may bind when hot. Adjust the handbrake lever in cab as required.
If the levers on the axle are just clear of the stops it puts tension on the cable and pulls the handbrake lever in the cab down tight on to the disconnect switch.

Same applies to the side engine manitous with handbrake on the transmission, adjust handbrake so the lever is just clear of the stop bolt.

I had to do this recently when the handbrake lever adjuster ran out of adjustment. The lever on the right hand of the axle was very stiff with half the movement of the left. I gave it some lube and worked it back and forth for a bit. Any tips?

Friend is using a 51 plate manitou that has lost forwsrd and reverse drive, how do you get to the handbrake switch and split pin mentioned above, I haven't had a good look at it yet, cheers.

Depends on the model:sneaky:

often a cover over the lever, remove it then either 2 bolts holding the lever in and disconnect the cable to take the whole lot out or some screws on another cover that the lever and cable are fixed to again remove the whole thing. a lot easier than trying to work from underneath.

of cause it may not even be that at fault but its a good place to start at the switch
