We have made a sloping floor for our bulling heifers, it's a 90 by 30 shed with a row of concrete sleepers up either side, propped up with two solid blocks at one end. we scrap the centre out daily and run up and down with the trailer Strawmill we use for the cows ,it takes about half a round bale a day for 65 to 80 heifers and 5 minutes time wise. They have some ring feeders outside for silage with electric fence / Ai pen around them
Works well and heifers ly in cubicles when they calve fine, used to getting up out of the muck.

I was caught for space one year so put my heifers calves in disused drysow house with stalls . after 2/3 days most of them used the stalls instead of the slats even though everything had plenty straw

we are bringing the R1s back in house this coming winter,so we will be converting a straw barn to house them.
our thoughts are to put in cubicles down each side and have a central feed passage. shed is 43 ft wide.
so my questions are are cubicles the right thing to do and if so what type of cubicle should we use? the plastic cubicles we prefer for the cows i don't think are suitable as training cubicles.

How are you feeding them ? Wagon, bales, grabs ?
