Hogg trade fell off a cliff today!

Heavy meat hogs ( around 48/ 50 kilos ) fit to kill anything from £75 to £90 head. anything else if you got a bid you were lucky!

Suck lambs not much better with an absolute belter of a pen of quality sappy yet heavy lambs only making £99 head, 30 kilo lambs anything from £72/ 77 head...
Will the hogs recover? heard a chap the other day was buying and shearing them and leaving them a fortnight seemed a hell of a risk to me I'd sooner buy springers at the moment

I think springers and Hogs will be better in mid June than they are at the moment...seen it for years I always sell my cull ewes 3rd week ofJune in their wool aways seem to catch a strong trade..same with scaled hogs

Store cattle...

In all Honesty it was the worst quality entry of store cattle I have ever seen at Sedge with most of the main buyers losing the will to live as they came in the ring! pen after pen of 300/350 kilo 24/30+ month old cattle that were hollow and in all honesty should have been shot at birth giving the hard life they have had selling to very low prices.

However well framed NS Hereford steers/ heifers were a very strong trade and up on the week, strong BB cattle would have been back £20/30 head on last week, the rest would be back some £50 head on last weeks prices at a well placed guess given I all but fell asleep half way thru given the poor entry!:sleep:
What sort of money do these small for age things make?

Springers held up at a decent trade in Rugby today. A shade tighter for numbers.
