Siskin yesterday have no idea what it will yield. The n tester shower high levels of nitrogen in it so atleast it will hopefully be quality. £20 on fungicides

Harvest 2012 was our most profitable ever, follow by 2011 then 2013.

2012 was nasty. We really caused a lot of damage in 2011. We were expanding quite rapidly and had a fair chuck of gear doing very little except needing paying for.

This year at least we have trimmed the costs right down. And held on to cash.

Wheat after turnips then sp barley sort of mini break has done really well here for last four years.

This year it has decided not only to not play, but taken the ball home too.
Decent home soil, been well mucked too.

We bought alot of gear in that period! Camgrain really helped in 2012 with getting some quality in the wheat. I do think that autumn is where our blackgrass issues stemmed from though.

Finished T2 this morning and still have huge potential, wheats as good as last year. Could do with a drink soon but luckily we’re on heavy land. Agronomist even persuaded me to put a growth reg in some of the fields. Most of our wheat was sown in September before the wet weather, one field that was sown late October got replanted in s barley.
Early September sown Claire, heads are out.

I concur with the sprayer, but you know you need a Fendt 942 or 1050 on the front of a 12,000 l trailed don't you, otherwise you will be chucked off the forum! Oh and keep the 710's on all year.
And direct drilling using cover crops!!

I actually feel the 420s are too wide a tyre for this time of year, but I must be old fashioned!!

The last good bit of drilling I did last autumn, 10th October. Gleam after peas. Rain would still be beneficial but its all going to run down the cracks. Yield we will see, might have overcooked the N, 235kg/ha including a 25m3/ha pig slurry, but we always seem to need more than some on here seem to manage with.

I did. With premiums it all made that. Very profitable. And needed to be to cover 2012 which took three years to get over.
I reckon if we can get over this current drought and the effects of the virus plus replace the reduction looming in sfp going forward we could in 3 years consider it a miracle ,the only saving grace I see is as now both myself and mrs 4 course are almost in receipt of our pensions we will not starve until 2025/6
