Hello, we are looking at strip tillage and see from some of your posts ( and profile pic) you use a Mzuri drill. How are you finding strip tillage and the mzuri. Do you use a stubble rake as well?

Thanks for your message. Yes we have been running a Mzuri for several years and have had nearly all positive results, across a variety of soil types. The machine is well designed and engineered with durable components, it's fairly easy to work on. Seed placement is very good. The only negatives are that they do take quite a bit of pulling on heavy land, if you want to run the legs deep, or if you are on hills.

We don't have a straw rake but run an Dunhelm Lehr Ultra Mulcher sometimes on stubbles to try and get a chit of weeds. We bale all our straw so residue management isn't really an issue for us. The drill will handle an incredible amount of residue however, we drill into maize stubble and bean haulm without blocking.

We are in South Norfolk, you are most welcome to visit if you are in the area.

Hi thank you for your feedback. We are medium to heavy clays in East Yorkshire. Although our OM levels are 4% so I would like to think our land is reasonable heart. We a do apply about 1300t of FYM to our land every year would you FYM would be an issue left on the surface?
