This will be interesting watching over the next few weeks. Loads of trouble last year but now has 7 Ideal 9’s running and will be trying the Ideal 10 as well as the JD X9 and Claas along side then.

Was just about to mention this. Surprised they got another after all the issues

In fairness Mike Mitchell has been given amazing support by Agco. His words. He thinks they came to the market a year too early. This harvest will be interesting. If they continue to give issues then a change of colour may happen. The output and fuel economy seem to be very impressive according to him

What are these tracked combines like on the road to steer .Having driven lots of plant on tracks doing 20mph and turning sounds a bit like taking a T Rex for a walk.
Do the front tracks clutch out on the side your turning and powered only in the opposite way to the way the rear wheels are going ?

They actually drive nicer on the road than the big bouncy tire versions. Most if not all the track systems have suspension to take the bounce out. They feel better at speed to.

I have never understood why they dont shape the tracks different so theres an incline slope to get out of ruts

The X10 is I believe steered by a joystick rather than steering wheel , is that legal on the road here ?
I thought machines other then track layers (not combines with tracks but track laying vehicles for which you need another licence) had to have a steering wheel to control them on the road.

just Curious if anyone knows

Catergory H is required if the vehicle is steered by slowing down one of its drives, like a twin track crawler skid steer loader or tank etc
Saab built a car without a steering wheel, think it was the prometheus

They all bust at some time, was fishing next to field of rape being harvested with a 20 plate 8700 yesterday, Big Bang and a rattling sound, engine stop, side panel up and that was it for 3 hours while driver and two cart drivers watched the local Claas dealers guys fix it. Luckily the dealer was just over hill on the English side.

I do not understand why Fendt allow their name on the side of them!

The only time MF made a good Combine was when they first took over Dronenberg. As soon as the MF guys got their hands on them they fecked them up. It’s like anybody who has one expects to have a service engineer in the field at least twice a week!
It’s absolutely ridiculous. I saw a video of one it the USA on YouTube that wass on Fire because a stone got into it.
The damage the stone did inside it was unbelievable!

IMO if you want a reliable Combine, use a manufacturer that specialised in Combines and only Combines to start with.

Nah, the 400's and 500's were OK

T'was always thus.
There's an amusing tale, locally, from the time when MF brought in the 760.
A local farmer who bought the first one around here was in the pub one night when his neighbour said, "Have you bought one of Peacock's (locals call P&B 'Peacock's') old vans?"

"No, why do you ask?" says the farmer.

"Well, there's always one parked with your combine." :playful:
