We were quoted £207 spot, French wheat still in France so a bit of a shortage till it arrives. £ 180 first week August French should be here then, or £173 as available August.
Sold 4 loads as available.
I think we may have some ready first week August but if the French is still on the sea the premium will be much higher and weather looks a bit iffy so did not think £7 was a big enough premium if we had to cut it wet.

Where are you? We sold some on Friday for £200t del this coming week and we are in Somerset. Luckily cut it on Friday and think it’s about 16% so hopefully they should take it with a deduction. This is Extase drilled end of September on some light south facing early ground. It wasn’t really fit and was slow to combine but was worth it to get the premium.

I’ve heard £138 mentioned for feed barley by one of the feed firms for harvest movement, at least a month off harvest for some of us @Andrew1983
Surely they will need to do better than that, there’s not going to be a fraction of the barley of last year and the maltsters will hopefully be more confident this year 🤷‍♂️
The barley at Dads has a burnt off look from the Kessock bridge, recon they will be at it in a couple weeks….. ours will be a month alway though going to be very mixed this year.

Diageo hunting around to replace the missing Inglis stuff they thought they owned should help for this year.

Not a great situation going forward though. Really just down to two price setters in Scottish market in Bairds and Simpsons.

Been offered £143 for new crop feed barley. No way am I selling at that at moment.

Even more annoying when wheat trading for £200/t above.

Won't go other way?
Lot of ruined malting barley so lot of feed....?

Barley acreage down, wheat acreage up so some
failed malting shouldn't matter too much.Wheat futures up £4quid Nov today driven by American market .Biggest negative is the pound gradually getting stronger
against the euro and dollar.Commodities have risen across the board ,it's time for a long overdue gear change to grain prices.
