best brand of cantilever toolbox

Quite simple, what's the best brand of cantilever toolbox. Had and seen plenty of one's are too thin or the linkages have broken. Don't mind paying for good value. Facom, Beta, Bahco, Britool etc. Obvious extra points for British made ones!

I use a Bacho cantilever. Quality seems good and it is just the right size to fit nicely in the combine tool locker.

It has a single handle, fixed to the folding linkage. This seems to be a marmite thing, as it can get in the occasional when taking tools out, but find it way better than the style with two pivoting handles, which often seem to result in the contents of a tool box being thrown out when the uninitiated keep trying to pick them up by just the one handle.

Some boxes have two handles fixed to the linkage which look good, but would mean the rest of the box has to be smaller if it has to fit in a confined space.

Facom ones are awful, at least the one i saw was.
Beta is good
Bahco are alright
Draper make a pretty decent one for the money, I have one still for home toolkit. I like the twin handle ones, but maybe not suited to everyone.

I reckon that much of any extra weight of a metal cantilever box is most from all the extra tools they will hold for their overall size compared to most other designs of tool boxes.

cheers Munkel and everyone else for their replies.

What makes the Facom one terrible? Looking by photos online they seemed the best option? Was drawn to them by what look likes to be reinforced linkages on the folding mechanism. Had problems with others with the linkages bending and being a pain to open. So thought it looked well designed!

The metal and the rivets are cheap. The linkages go loose after a while.
lad at work has the smaller 2 tray one and it's shocking how cheap and nasty it is, the locking hasp looks like it came from a christmas cracker.

I like Facom tools in general, but none of their tool boxes have ever impressed me. Even the super expensive roll cabs they used to do were shoogly (about 10 years since i've seen one though)

If buying for myself again, I'd probably try to find a good deal on a Beta one.

Just taken delivery of a Britool Expect box, paid £37 must admit it doesn't look mighty strong but will see. I'm going to line the trays with foam rubber to stop tools sliding about.

I have a 20 year old plastic toolbox in the car, which is certainly strong enough to stand on and according to the suppliers was strong enough to take the wheel of a Defender 90, when stuck off road. (No, I haven't tried that, yet).

Use one of these daily. Tend to wear the bottom out after a couple of years of being picked up and put down daily. 760EFE79-8D7D-47E2-A406-412D07D9DB19.jpeg

Any good plastic cantilever toolboxes out there ? If you're lifting the box in and out of a vehicle, the extra few kgs of a metal box can get wearing.

The Stanley one is quite good. different design than the metal ones

I had one of these off the snap on man in 1997 for £50

Real nice box, solid, I wish I had looked after it better because I’m not paying £200 to replace it

I have the Falcon one and don’t think it’s bad, most of the £30 to £50 ones are much the same in my opinion

Thank you Munkel, went with your Beta recommendation, very impressed with the quality!
