Trains in general are down in passenger numbers due to a lot of people working from home. Commuting to London etc daily by train is a very expensive affair as any season ticket holder will tell you so people are probably keen to avoid this cost. I bet train numbers will never be the same again and given the cost of running and maintaining a office space, particularly given the value of property in places like London or New York, I guess many firms will downscale theirs in time.

Friends of mine who are involved in managing people have reported a significant increase (more than 30% in some cases) in the actual hours worked when people switched to home working. Less travelling time, more relaxed pace and also the ability to do stuff once the kids have gone to bed meant productivity was enhanced. Yes, it is weird conducting meetings via zoom/teams but you do get used to it.

You'll be the only one on HS2.
Pull the plug on it now, give the tax payers back their cash and give all that confiscated property back to the legal owners.

Shrewsbury to london family of 5 would be £300 return, any journey time saved on the train lost in travel to station and waiting on trains and then the train still doesnt delivery you to your destination requiring more time and money using very often unreliable and confusing local transport systems. sad but it is often mad to take the train....

I bet money you can fly from Exeter to Scotland cheaper than it would be on a train.

Train is great into Brum or BHI from Welly or Shrewsbury, but anything that requires changes and faffing, I take a car or bike. I did use the train to Coventry a tew rimes to go and watch rugby at the Ricoh, but that became less and less attractive (as connections became difficult in Cov) other the ability to have more than a pint at the game...

I go on the bike now, 55mins, door to door, and park right by the Stadium entrance :)

I know that wasps are a superior rugby team to Worcester regarding players, but the day out at six ways is infinitely superior to the Ricoh.
A proper old fashioned rugby atmosphere rather than a football experience at the cov stadium.
It’s also great for kids too. Can’t praise it enough
