polished concrete floors

Real Lino is beautiful stuff, some friends had it in the new kitchen and had a bespoke design cut with all sorts of fab unusual colours and it looked amazing. Very Eco too, all natural. BUT I'm not sure it would work so well with UFH so we went with stone.

has any one got any experience on polished concrete floors for a house . under floor heating to be fitted . just thought it could be a durable option for a house to let out rather than carpets or wooden floors when you can have a turn over of tenants . good or bad
thanks quavers
You need to put fibres in the screed if your going to lay tiles otherwise cracking problems.

Vynl tiles amtigo / carndean type products can be a bad idea with underfloor, I saw disasters first hand when specing my house where expansion due to heat and soft latex made a mess and tiles moved

I went for pocelonoca wood ceramic tiles over underfloor here and inset carpet into seating areas etc where a softer feel was wanted, has worked well and no regrets, can post a few pics if you like

Polished concrete can look great though and wouldn't be a bad choice with good underfloor
Go on put some pics on, FF:scratchhead: Got quite upset I remember.

I've had polyfloor SimPlay vinyl tiles down over underfloor heating for 12 months now with not issues at all. They're really an industrial loose lay tile, just held down with a bit of spray glue.

i went for moduleo lvt vinyl in the end , have no regrets looks good and stood up well to holiday tenants for over 4 years now , actually looking for lvt for another property that im doing for myself , may go for the click rather than the glue down so we save a bit in the fitting costs , its taken some jump in price like every thing else in the last year , getting it in from germany will save me over £700 !

hey everyone I have a concrete question. I have a building with a slab on a grade foundation the surface of the slab is uneven and marred. the previous owner cut 3-inch groves into the concrete and bolted beams into them. he then built a wood floor about an inch over the slab using these beams as joists. the wood floor is badly damaged and I'm wondering if it is possible to remove the beams and pour a layer of concrete onto the slab and polish it to create a polished concrete floor. any advice would be great epoxy garage floor Atlanta, do I need rebar or control joints? and what is the minimum thickness of the slab? will acrylic polymers help the concrete bond to the old? are there any problems with any of this that I have not foreseen? thanks for all the help.

you can get a self levelling screed that you could use on top of your existing slab but you can not polish this as far as i am aware , plenty other floor covering that you could use though

These guys did a first class job over UFH with 50mm dry screed with retanol. Its not for polishing though unfortunately. No sign of any movement even after taking a 250kg stove over it on a pallet truck.
