Is The UK Getting More Filthy?

Round here in essex it is? Reasons alot more people, cars, but above all its people, from children to adults attitude? respect? all what ever? to the environment, countryside, recent example, other day i left my farm at 6 20am, to go down our local road that leads into the village, came back an hour late, only half mile and in that time someone had, i assume thrown out of a car? a plastic bag containing food wrappings and pop bottle, right in the middle of the road? You know what CCTVS should be there to film the culprits and name and shame them? Makes me so angry and sad, sad that our once great country seems to be going down, peoples attitudes around me here, im all right jack, idnt want the rubbish in my car? who the hell do they think will clear it up? I sometimes wonder what would happen if no one, or the authorities bothered to keep battling with this, what the countryside would look like in a very short time? The end of the Glastonbury pop festival and the rubbish, filth left by the public comes to mind?

Takeaway debris around here 10 miles from any McD outlet. Vehicle registration on each takeaway package might deter the morons if it was followed up by effective enforcement including seizure and crushing of the vehicle involved, No appeal absolute offence.
It's not. Ive taken McDonald's drive through rubbish back to them. Manager not interested. I gave it back to him. Had debit card receipt in and timestamped. They could just be banned.

Evidently they won’t do it as they consider it wouldn’t be the solution to the problem

It's everywhere. I was in Belfast the other day and it was downright embarrassing. Never mind people throwing crap everywhere, there was no attempt made by the council to clean rubbish which has been there 2-3 days in the city centre.

Footpaths with chewing gum and general grime, graffiti everywhere. I'm sure they'll find money for a new office though (not that they use the current ones).

I lifted a cwt bag of crap along a 200m stretch of road the other day, and we are in a secluded area...

worst thing for spreading litter around here is the recycling lorry, just blows out as they drive along, I reckon 90% of it is caused that way, you can tell when its recycling day, follow the trail, I am always picking the stuff up.
I rang the Council after their wagon left crap from the farm to the end of the lane, and beyond. They came and picked up...

I would have thought with all these people doing community service the verges should be immaculate.

@bluebell I have a feeling you are from a Little Clacton neck of the woods. My folks are there, and since all of those fast food places opened up it looks like as you say Glasto.

We have local people round here who a few times a year walk the roads picking up rubbish
Same here, me included. Most of the rubbish is what has come out of the dustbin lorry but they have just changed how they work so hopefully that will stop/get better. Fortunately it is a quiet back lane with very little traffic other than residents. Bizarrely there is someone who regularly throws potatoes onto the verge, they spread a 5lb bag along the lane and then throw the bag out.

In general the country is a complete mess with everyone thinking every problem should be sorted by someone else. Just chuck your rubbish out of the window, someone will come and pick it up kind of mentality. I don't think it has anything whatsoever do do with breeding either, more an engrained sense of entitlement or similar.
The amount of rubbish on dual carriageway and motorway verges and central reservations is a national disgrace, some is thrown out of cars/vans/trucks especially near junctions but a lot is just blown off trucks etc as it is too big to fit in a car.

Bin wagon team coming down the road, one driving, two hooking the bins on the back, and another sticking stickers on the bins with next years collection dates on.

Dumb arse has got endless amount of bins or the back of the wagon to get rid of the backing sheet, but no he throws it on the floor, and there's a trail all the way up the road.

I complained to the council, so next day a street sweeper came along picking them up.
