Ph needs sorting first and foremost. Probably atleast 1t/acre of lime if not 1.5
Roundup asap to give enough time to get the rye in,
Once brown run through the ground with a einbock/chain harrow a few times then direct drill.

Thanks

the plan is spray with glyphosate Monday, drill Tuesday and sheep in Saturday to graze all old grass off

Wont have time to sort the PH now, i was hoping rye will be more tolerant to a low PH?

OK. That's interesting. I'm to scared to plough the fields because I'm worried about the soil washing away over winter. Maybe a quick disc up is the answer?

I've sown heavyish land with a gd disk drill usually go three ways on it and had good results 98 percent of the time spray and lime and anything else it needs first it's just the leather jackets you need to watch for
How long after spraying would you apply lime and how long after that would you plant? Tempted to throw some vetch in as well and chop the lot next June
