The end of the line for MF

Correct.. and 99% hydrostatic at 1k forwards speed. So climbing a hill at 10k flat out loaded is probably 70% hydrostatic input. Therefore very slow. And very inefficient on fuel. Hence why lorries don’t use vario.
But once over the hill they should reduce revs by a fair bit compared to most powershifts and at that point be more efficient.

A cvx is a vario ??

I'm comparing a John Deere autopower to power quad and a fastrac with a fendt tranny in it
A cvx is a 4 speed powershift with a bit of vario in between each gear. Good system for getting hp through the box, potentially bad for having clutch packs that could wear out for each gear plus another pack for reverse.. Real vario is zero to full speed completely uninterrupted. But low speeds have a high percentage of hydro which For pulling tattie kit, mowers and balers is just fine. Point a heavy trailer up a real hill and the losses at 10k forward speed make 220 horse feel like 180.. very disappointing. I take it your 4220 is tired on hills too..

No far from it.

Some operators don't understand how they work and constantly overload the engine trying to go faster. It's like all the time trying to change up a powershift, counter productive.
If the transmission governor is set too low the transmission will slow too soon, which gets drivers shoving at the stock and overloading the thing. Too high and it'll all the time be dying back.
That is were TMS in the fendt walks all over the Mf with dyna Vt box , set the min & max rpms in the TMS for road work & a way you go.

That’s just down to (High)gear ratios selected by the manufacturer and driver input. Makes no difference at all to downhill performance. A good driver will upshift immediately the load reduces anyway. No modern tractors run at full speed at full revs do they??

I don’t have buy nearly dozen tractors before I realised I didn’t like them, kind of makes me a better judge in the matter.
after two Mf 76 tractors with dyns 6 boxes , I had judged these tractors will bankrupt you better buy some thing else was a great move & i which i could do all our work with one tractor but we need a fleet of 7 to keep up with the work load
