The end of the line for MF

Well done to MF for putting the Dyna VT gearbox in all tractors over 200hp as they are about to pull the plug on all 8s tractors with any gearbox other than a dyna VT fitted in then , because of the fail rate on the dyna 7 & dyna7 eco box, if only they would talk to the end user they would not be were they are now , very sad to see this once great company going down the ratings like they are .

I hear its a shed load of ££££ to fit a rep D7 in them all under warranty not good for MF this.
Maybes if they ran them for extended testing ie 10000+ hours in the first place eh.
The mind boggles...
Dynashift in the likes of the 6290 with there first proper left hand clutchless shuttle was a gem in its day.
I got it from some1 that would deffo know that a full swap is circa 25k for dealer labour at 90 quid an hour plus the replacement box

Why did they mess with Dynashift anyway?
32 speeds with loads of overlap and a bombproof design.

So, presumably for cost cutting, they introduce Dyna 6 as ‘progress’ with only 24 speeds and the even more basic Dyna 4 with just 16.

Now apparently by all accounts Dyna 7 is causing MF no end of trouble.

Was there an inherent problem with higher horsepower tractors using the original Dynashift? If not then why the hell did Massey stop producing it?

AFAIK 32 speed Dynashift couldnt be made to do 50kph thats all ive heard.

Keep hearing these horror stories about replacement gearbox prices.

Puts me off buying used and better buying something new with warranty.

Our autocommand got a tune up by dealer mechanic the other day and it's like a new tractor. Goes like sh!t off a shovel now. Just hope it lasts.

They'd get left behind if they did, and you'd be saying 'why the hell are MF still buggering on with a stick box when the competition has gone powershift?'

Its quite simple really. People cant be bothered having to use a gear stick and to compete with the likes of newholland range command they had to do something. Problem is range command is very user friendly but the dyna6 is more complex which in theory leaves it more versatile being fit to program startoff gear and the likes, but in practice its only a balls of a gearbox that your always looking at the screen to see what gear your in and can easily accidently change the startoff speed leaving you pulling out at junctions in a low gear nearly causing an accident. Once this happens a time or two it creates an instant dislike for the tractor, sure therl be plenty of people that still like them but statistics dont lie and the fact is mf sells nowhere near the number of tractors they used to sell and market share has took a hit.they also have a crappy feel to them inside the cab on par with cnh products. The minute u get into a fendt or jd you instantly get a feel of this is a quality product that you dont get nowadays with a massey compared to years ago, tbh thats a big selling point as the customer gets the feeling of confidence in what they are buying with the green tractors

One of things they don't tell you is a lot of tractor transmissions haven't changed much for years, they say its new but a lot of the development has been to software. Trouble is relying on software to push the boundaries of a transmission and exceed its hp capability doesn't account for who's using/abusing it.

JD have persisted with a gearstick and powerquad?

Dyna 6 was rubbish on one we had. End of MFs on this farm.
So JD powerquad with a gearstick as an example, if they were to use software to automate the moving of the stick and pressing of the clutch just think how much abuse you could give that transmission. That's what a lot of others have done.
