Which is the best 4t 7m telehandler?

We had a 42.7 and just had the dealer disengage the joystick trigger switch at the back and also bypass the boom lock out system because its dangerous. If you need to dump the boom quickly it locks out which increases the chance of tipping the machine over, not reducing it as it was probably designed for.
I’m sure Merlo will love seeing a dealer bypassing safety and HSE, even if you think it’s improved it.

Been through this recently being a current jcb owner.Only demoed a new jcb ( both transmissions) and a manitou. still waiting for a kramer from RFS after asking 3 times way back in March .🤌💦!!!
Liked some features on both machines and Manitou slightly cheaper and better standard warranty but a long wait for a new one.Ended up with a Jcb 542-70 Xtra Dualtech as it was a new stock machine and a good discount to factory ordered machine. Hoping it will be as good as our current 536/70 xtra which we bought new in 2008 and has been excelent . Lots of interest when advertised and sold to first person to contact me .!!Ps They still had a 542/70 xtra 6 speed in stock last week .!! P&B.

All depends on the backup. I'll be going Kramer next, the current scorpion is the best machine I've had, the old John Deere 3200s were excellent, had plenty of reliability issues with JCBs and they cuff fuel. Didn't much like the Manitou, horrible driving position and parts availability. Kramer make an excellent frame and fill it with the best outsider parts available to make a machine.

Totally agree. Kramer make a machine that feels solid, cab is workman like and the precision on offer is just delicious. You could load wagons all day and it would be easier than driving your car around the yard. Never need hardly any revs, feels just like a loading shovel.

There is nothing I dislike about mine. I hated the back to front control layout after the JCB, but only for a week or so. It's a really very tough machine, like you say, cab is workman like, not pretty. But I can happily sit in it for a full day and still be comfortable. Rarely does it need more than 1500rpm to keep up, and off that and a hydrostat I reckon tyres last double the hours of most machines with lack of slip. I guess the only weakness is its a bit steady with a heavy trailer but I'll take that flaw for all the good bits

The only thing I had to get used to was the feeling that they were a bit Nicki Minaj- a bit larger than expected in the side and the rear but I soon got used to it. The hydraulic grunt on tap is insane. I'd love to have a crack in the bigger versions or one of the centre boom machines.

To be fair, mine is a 2010 Scorpion varipower 6030, it's quite wide but very stable. Slight shame they put the big bulge in the bonnet for emissions control on the later ones. Visibility is excellent on mine and not as good on the later ones. I'll keep this one til death do us part as I know I'll probably have to go for 3.5 tonne lift (because of safety cutouts) and forego some visibility when I go dark green. I bought the prime machine really and will keep it going as long as possible for that

A some what confusing statement there, if machine was nice to operate why would one dislike the joystick:X3:

I like the JSM joystick over anything else imo, its nice to use in my pinion and there not over expensive to replace when needed either and guess what you can even buy the spare parts for the JSM joysticks easy unlike the one JCB use were they wont even sell any parts for it and a new unit is often very expensive 3 or 4 times the price of the JSM:LOL:
Have 2 vario 4 ton 7m manitou next door now only problem is you can't feel the wall very well now as so powerful

Is it possible to retrofit a different joystick to an MLT 741? No criticism of the JSM version but i struggle with it due to having Parkinsons, I can work no problem with a JCB or Househam type though
AC Engineering,any views?

I doubt it and if you could it would need to be an early JSM so 2009 at latest and so long as not powershift. In theory you could swap to the rexroth joystick jcb use with the f/r on it.

if you have a powershift or its 2010 and newer then no i dont think you could.
