I ran out of silage this time and the ground was to wet to turn out so I zero grazed with my front mower and wagon I went in an morning and at night it took half an hour a load tipped out at the feed passage and just kept pushing it up with the grab it got me out of the sh!t for 4 weeks

I left the blades out and just picked it up, I noticed any grass on the feed fence I ran over or bruised they ate last so I had the telehandler boom right out and just nudged it into them once they were full it worked really well and it may well work better than grazing here!!

It’s a lovely job in big covers but get into lawn mowings and it’s a good way to wear your wagon pick up reel out picking up 4 acres+ a day 10ft at a time.

Farm cover is over 3300
Why would I feed silage ?
What’s gone wrong is the weather and probably poor management. Can’t decide on my level of capability as I too distressed to think objectively.
I can guarantee its the weather, not your management if it makes you feel any better.

Unless of course your name is actually noah wnd you've been building an arc?

If the fields are to wet to graze won't the tractor make more mess. Ours is a very wet farm. 60 inches of rain a year and I wouldn't be able to get a tractor on the fields on a day that was to wet to turn the cows out. Could you not undergraze now and tidy up with a bit of pre mowing and taking a few bales later. We purposely leave a lot of grass behind and I'm sure some would not approve but we still grow piles of grass and that reserve comes in handy during the drier months. Try not to stress. Easier said than done I know.

The land we are cutting is 7 miles away and a very different soil type.
We have done plenty of what you describe already 👍

What stops/ creates heating. ?
How long before it heats?.
Chop length?
Anything out of the obvious I’m missing?’
Long thin pile. Needs to be cleared in 24hours but if half is gone in 12 then it’ll stay cooler.
Avoid any chopping and conditioning or damaging the grass as much as possible.
That will be the key to it not heating up.
