Fendt 818 slow to set off

Have an 818 that has just developed this issue. When you select forward or reverse it needs a lot of revs to get it to move off, and there can be a delay varying between 2-4 seconds. Once it’s moving it drives fairly normally and is responsive when pushing or pulling the stick. We don’t think it is related to the brakes as it still does it if you start in neutral on a the level with no brakes on, and it will roll down a hill when in neutral.
We have changed the suction and pressure filter in the transmission which were both clean. We have also gone through and done a full calibration through the dashboard.
Looking at the diagnose screen it is slower to build up pressure than our 820, it reaches 150 bar at 1500 revs compared to 950 revs on the 820. The tractor has done 9500 hours and is on the original vario. Hoping this is not a sign that this vario is on its way out.
Was wondering if anyone had experience of something similar or anything else we can try to find the problem.
Thanks

Can it be something as basic as the shuttle response adjustment? I think not with your experience of driving the tractor. I have a MF with that transmission and it has four delay settings for each of three response modes. Fendt will have some similar, if not more sophisticated adjustments through its driver controls.

On a similar note, on a cold start, if I operate the shuttle too soon after the engine fires and the transmission is woken, there is no response from the transmission. It’s as if it is in neutral. Then suddenly it engages sharply. Once it engages it will behave normally for the rest of the day. Only happens occasionally. Funny old transmissions these! Each seems to have a ‘character’ of its own.

my first thought too

I think as you drive away it does two things 1) adds transmission ratio and 2) progressively closes the neutral valve with engine speed to control pressure in the hydrostat circuit. (That’s the same valve the clutch uses)

So was thinking best to compare the transmission pressures with the hand throttle over 1400revs as that valve is fully locked then. Not tried it but maybe hold it on the brakes with high engine speed and see what pressure it stalls at

Go in to your service diagnostic on ne screen and see what pressure it does when you set it in non tms mode of driving and hard on brakes and tap joystick forward. Should build up to 550 bar on the pressure gauge. If it doesn’t get near then I’d say your vario is on its way out. There’s 4 sets of seals on the shaft in the vario and if it takes a while to build pressure then it is leaking past 2 of the sets of seals and causing a steady build in pressure to set off etc. but if it still drives and pulls fine I’m guessing that it’s just a setting some where.
