same as ours, but NO a and b litres/quota, or whatever, just graduated seasonality, may, 1.698ppl

which leaves us better off, than some, when number crunching the a and b pricing.

may milk, 37.8ppl banked, bf dropped a bit, but still over base price, just. Nearly 5p down from april though, and no buffer feeding.

First milk hold for august, the slide has stalled for a month
would be nice, if they found reverse gear !

if they do, it will be in slow range !

but our nutritionist reckons a lot of farms having to feed 1st cut. And meant to be coming in stinking hot again, which should help lower production down. For certain some of the big dairies locally are looking.

We hear this every year about farms feeding first cut but it seems to make little difference at the end of the day, assume most of the farms like that have wholecrop and maize to come in, possibly the first cut heap doesn’t have the significance it used to?

Feeding 1st cut here, nothing unusual in that, just best for clamp management. 3rd cut next week if it’s nice.

Bg
Only had one cut here, cows grazing everything off now as fast as it pops up along with a buffer of maize silage.
Would never dream of opening first cut before October but first cut will be the vast majority of grass silage we make every year so nothing particularly unusual in that.
We all have our different ways and systems and do what we believe best to suit us/our farms, more than one way to skin a rabbit as they say
