You would agree that the minimum resources needed to live in Britain would probably be greater than the norm considered in Africa or China?

I've seen people living in what I would consider poverty in the UK. I've seen malnourished adults and children in the UK. I've seen people suffering from poverty and neglect in the UK. Just because the general public are not aware of it in the main does not mean it does not occur. There is a lot of homelessness in the UK. There are families living in properties that should be condemned in the UK. This is why I get so irate reading headlines about the Home office block booking hotels and magically finding the money for it when your local council probably has an existing waiting list a mile long for accommodation.

There are certain things humans need , food and shelter.
In this country the politicians pander to the majority who want the price of shelter/housing to go on rising hence the controversy over state provided housing for immigrants/poor people.
There aren't literally people starving to death in this country like there are in other parts of the world, partly because food costs do not vary as much as shelter costs from the first to third world.

You're definitely wrong about this too.
Roughly one hundred people a year die of malnutrition in the UK.

According to that rowntree report it's about 8% of people in the UK who are in very deep poverty. £9800 a year for a single man they say.
A full thousand pounds less than the average rent I note.
I've seen it too.

In terms of funding the current model of loans and tuition fees provides far more for both students and universities than thd old system of grants.
It's why politicians of both parties back it.
It has massive problems and i am not in favour of it but is not a left/right wing issue , nor was the imposition of the fees plus loans worse than the grant system.
This is quite bonkers.
The loans system sold to private companies allows Tory donors to rob people's bank accounts.
Students are forced to use vastly overpriced accommodation too.
The marginal tax rate in the UK for people with student loans is 71%.
How anyone can say it's a good system is beyond me.
Right wing dogma has blinded too many of the older generation to reality.

For the 5th time, the UK are postponing border checks for...the fear of food shortages and inflation. And they need " more time to prepare" ' cos taking back control takes time folks🤣
But hey, NFs bank account.

It's comical really.
An entire country open to smuggler's to send in anything.
Horse burgers again are the least of problems.

And in that clip, JRM solemnly declares that free trade is a massive benefit for consumers. That’s after having led the country out of the single market and customs union! Such a shame the dumb reporter didn’t challenge him on that….

Nails the lie about brexit not causing inflation to be higher than it should be too.
Inflation is high because we are reliant on gas for electric & all that extra cost to businesses that unlike the population aren’t being helped so it’s past on to the consumer, now’t to do with Brexit, self inflicted yet again!
