What’s the best tractor of all time ?

I was only thinking about this this morning whilst feeding cows. For me it is my John Deere 6920s auto power. It is compact enough to do loader work well, it is big enough to handle all the jobs that need more power on our 140ha with ease and simple enough that any of the family can drive it without hours of tuition. Its fast at 50k and comfortable. It’s currently on 10500hours and I fully expect with some love it will do that again for us. It is a tractor that unless through accident will be unlikely to leave the family, will end up like the old Dexta that was on the farm I grew up on, just used for light jobs and kept for sentimentality. I also like our 6410 and my 2155 Fastrac but not in the same way. It will be a sad day if we end up with something new with buttons and adblue 😂. 47 and sounding like an old man 😂.

40 series New Holland , bombproof engine lovely to drive , still going strong
I bought a 8340 a couple of years ago for “nostalgia” said at the time it’s not good tractor, not a bad tractor, and familiar dependable old thing like your favourite duffle coat

Tier 3 MF 5400 Dyna 4. Peak stockman's tractor, they had it nailed. Reliable, good level of comfort, ergonomic, powerful, still easy to use and pretty simple with minimal overcomplication. Sounds fekking minted too.

Could also be argued MF 300 series. Touch less comfort but simplicity perfected.

Edit: Reading comments, yes, 2000-12 was the golden era without a doubt. Also agree that best 6 cylinder tractor ever built as Case MX, what smashing machines, used to come here for silage. Perhaps matched by tier 3 6400 series MF.

I remember driving a 6920S autopower at some stage when they hadn't been out for very long. Coming from the various iterations of full or semi powershifts that were around at the time I don't think anyone realised how much of a change autopowr would be. You had this funny joystick in a slot with a scroll wheel on it and I remember driving it around and sort of trying to use the 'clutch' a fair bit and wondering what the point of it all was. Fast forward and nearly everything is vario now.

for me i think it’s the Fendt 724 - strong, reliable, compact power to weight, lovely to drive and cheap to own

others slightly older contenders for me would be Jd8410 or 7810 …… any 10 series JD in fact, they were all great
depends what your using it for, it not the 724 though as its not versatile enough many say its too lightweight for the power i.e a 240 hp tractor at 170k should pull a 6 furrow plough with ease in most soil types but it doesnt, i see guys on 150hp tractors with the same plough on as a 724, explain that one, similar situation with a 4m combi drill on heavier ground, fine for pulling a grain bogey etc but lot of money to throw at the job
