The Death of Red Tractor is coming..... ???

They still do at Welshpool, which must surely be one of the biggest fat lamb marts in the country. Some of the abattoir buyers can only bid on FA lambs, but who knows what fraud goes on later on.

It would be interesting to do a proper comparison of similar types of lambs at supermarket/export weights that are FA and not. I haven’t done it for a while but, when I have, there has sometimes (not always) been around an 8p/kg premium.
Shrewsbury do not - I checked with the auctioneer back when we were selling - they said no point. However, on their invoices they had a note saying buyers wanted lambs to be FA - told them straight what I thought of that.

They are easy to make up lol
RT make it up, we make it up, the supermarket makes it up and the poor consumer is fobbed off with a made up RT label of imports and god knows what else paper records.
Better off when there was time to keep stock and yard clean instead of all this make believe nonsense.
Big task for the BFU but with current number of new members joining we'll soon be ready to give a mass two fingers up to the jobsworths.
